Anybody try these (or know where to buy them)? Wondering why I'm not seeing much about them, and how they compare to others in the lineup.

I think these were discontinued a few years back. Had a customer ask for them recently and said he hasn't seen them in years. Believe he said it had a sungrown wrapper, but outside of that I know nothing about it.

It was actually referred to as the Oliva Special S and it was originally released in late 2006 or early 2007 I believe. It only had a one year run and Oliva thought it was a cigar that could compete with the Padron 64.

The Special S had a Sun Grown wrapper from Ecuador, the binder was Cuban Seed Nicaraguan tobacco with a Nicaraguan Habano filler.

Definately not a bad smoke in my opinion if you can still find them at a good price.

They Are smoking great right now, if you can find them. I was lucky enough to get a few from a great brother a while back. But i have not seen them in a long time myself.

I'd certainly like to get my hands on one. Surprised that they intended for it to go head to head with the P64.

Yep, I agree with Brandog...they're a tasty smoke. Had a couple, still have a couple.

I once had a box, they where a good cigar and of course had a great burn and ash. I gave a some away and traded some not to long ago. If you can find one its worth giving it a shot, and you can always then say you smoked one.

I thought they were a cameroon wrapper...........
Nope. Def. Ecuadorian Sungrown.

Other random facts...
-Most expensive Oliva to date ever made
-Had tons of sizes including two Diademas and two Torpedos
-Jose Oliva thought they would smoke best in five years, i.e. right now
-Essentially destroyed by the Serie V

It took me forever, but I finally found a box of the monster 9 x 52 Diademas that were made.

Outside of the Serie V Culebra, these are some of the rarest Olivas ever.
