Hello All,

I brought my humidor with on mission to an outlying FOB (forward opperating base), and I forgot my cigar juice. I know I could add regular water to it and it would work, but I've read that the minerals/chlorine/whatever in water can taint the flavor of my sticks. Is bottled water okay if it's just a one time thing?

My humidor is currently sitting at 65% humidity in a temperature controlled tent that fluctuates about 5 degrees either way of 70 degrees. Is a short period of lower humidity going to hurt my sticks?

Any tips/tricks/advice/anything to get me through this is appreciated.

Thanks,

-Blind:cbig:

Many of us actually prefer a lower humidity, and 65% is where mine is at all the time, a short period of a lower humidity will cause no issues. Find a gallon of distilled water and use that.

The bottled water over there is perfect for humidity. The cigar juice is alright, but not at all necessary. You're good to go with the bottled water. If it's the plain clear bottle with the white cap (palm tree on the bottle?) it's perfect. It's thoroughly filtered and not mineral water.

65% is optimal IMO. Get yourself some beads and distilled water and throw that cigar juice away.

Do a bit of searching on humidity and all your questions will be answered.

Good advice above. 65% is just fine. No need to really worry about things until you start getting close to or below 60%. Most here keep there cigars closer to 65% than 70%. And what they said, get yourself some beads or Boveda packs.

Sounds like your humi might be leaking if you are losing humidity quickly. I'm sure you will lose some more quickly than normal just from opening, but still.

65% is what I keep mine at. When I was in Iraq I used the liter bottles they gave us and it worked fine. The biggest problem IMHO is not having it filled. The less open air is better being over there. If they are smoking fine don't worry about it.

When I was over there it seemed like I was constantly refilling my humidifiers. Place just sucks the moisture out. When I got home, same humi's kept great rH. It was just so dry over there it sucked the moisture right out.

11% to 14% Ambient Humidity.

in laymans terms? Drier than a popcorn fart.

The good news? the bottled water works FINE for beads and Humi-Pillows.

Been playing this game since Desert Shield. No worries, Blind!

I keep mine between 65-70%. I have a small one that I cannot seem to keep that low though. It worrys me when I see real high humidity. No wrappers have split yet, but they could. They would at least become loosened before I transfer them to my regular humi.
