So I'm deciding what to do. I had talked myself into a wineodor but would also like something aesthetically pleasing and a fridge just aint that. :hammersma

So I'm looking at cabinets.

1. Mini Tower
under the bottom shelf I'm thinking I could put 4lbs of beads in a "cookie tray" so huge surface area.

2. The Verona Tower
This is over 14 cu ft so I'd most likely go w/ active humidification, either Oasis or Accumonitor w/ two tanks, fan control and humidity sensor.

I don't have nearly the stash for #2, but love the look of it and it would sit where anyone coming in my house would see it. It would be sweet. :)

BTW, I'm Italian and we're known to be a bit vain. :rolling:

So give me your thoughs/suggestions or other recommendations.

I like #2... but, if you're handy at all (or want to try), I'd try finding a nice piece of furniture and convert it - get an armoire, an antique gun cabinet, etc. - seal it, add humidity, etc. Just my $0.02.

I hear ya. I'm thinking about that. Been looking on CL for antique furniture.

Thanks for the input.

Other thing to remember here is the sizes quoted are not really accurate. I have 2 cabinets the size of the Verona and am lucky to get half of what they tell you to expect into it. Maybe if you are only doing dress boxes ar all out of boxes into trays maybe. If it is really dry there or if you are close to full on the cabinets I would really recomend getting the best humidification you can afford. For long term storage I will not go with anything other then accumonitor again.

I agree with Aaron. You do not get anywhere near what they tell you, into these towers. And definitely pay whatever it costs for the best humidification system you can buy. Your investment in the sticks far out-weighs the cost of storage and humidification when you get to this level

I realize I won't be able to put their advertised # of sticks, but with something like the Verona it would take me quite a while to fill.

I would either got w/ Accumonitor or Hydra, but most likely the Accu w/ something that size.

Yeah they list it at 3K sticks. With room for decent airflow and possibly a little room for displaying cigars and you will be fullish at not much over 1k sticks. I don't know how long you have been smoking or collecting but I remember the days being not that long ago that I thought I would never be able to fill one of those but now have 3 close to that size. I will always be one to say go with big unless you want to use storage as a way to limit your purchases.

Well I've been smoking cigars for 15-20 years, lost track. I do let my storage dictate my purchases. Although I'm on my 4th humidor, now a "rated" 300 stick box that holds about 125-150 depending.

I could settle for the 1k to 1250 in the verona. I've even already considered that I would pull the top shelves and put in slanted ones for display so that hurts storage to start, but would look sweet. :)

i would like to make a self self serving comment, but it is the truth. I had a customer measure the usable interior space of Verona. He figured that there was about 10 cu ft. If you measure up the Avallo 1200, we figure its about 8.5 cu ft of true useable space.

Buy a Verona for $600, and add in an Accu designed for that cabinet with the fan timer, and you are at $950. Buy an Avallo 1200, mention you are a BOTL member, and you get the cabinet for $950 with the fan timer.

With the 1200, you will loose maybe 15% in volume, but you get a MUCH, MUCH better designed cabinet that will take care of your cigars much better than the Verona.

Well RonC - looks like you made my mind up. I love the Avallo cabinets. Expect an order by the end of summer, need to square a few things up prior.

So I bit the bullet and bought an Avallo 1200 Deluxe today from Matt. Suppose to ship on Friday so I should get it a week from Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm giddy. :cbig:

It's called self control and not buying bigger than I know I need. Maybe someday, but that day isn't today. I'm not fearing a holocaust so no need to stock that many for my personal use. :)

Thanks, I'm sure I will. I have 4 boxes I've won from Cigar Bid on the way to me, and 1 from JR Dutch Auctions.

Figured I better have some to put in it. :)
