I go against the grain here. I may take them out to check to make sure there are no issues, but beyond that I leave 'em alone. Sealed up.

I let them rest in their tube homes.
Harry at Churchill n Downs in Deerfield, IL introduced me to tubos just when I was getting into cigars. He opened one up and told me to take a whiff... makes you wanna live in one yourself.

I ask because I've had a box of Tatuaje Black and a box of Tatuaje Verucu go very dry in their tubes. They have always been in a good humidor with non-tubed cigars that are fine. As I now have 60+ CC's en tubo, I don't want a repeat.

After I purchase cigars with tubes I like to keep the caps off for about a month to get to my preferred RH levels, then cap on all the way inside the box. If you don't like tubes save the money and purchase sans tube.

^^^This. I have found over the years that tubos are often a bit "wet" upon arrival. After getting them to the preferred RH they are capped tightly.

What Steve & John above me said. You have to let them rest with caps off (even though they're not "air tight") to acclimate to your humidity. I'll put the caps back on after a month or so.

I really dont agree with you brother, tubos are a bit moist but as you mentioned they are not air tight . The same issue with jars but you dont open them for a month and let all that wonderful smell go to waste wich will affect the taste.
If you would open a tube that has been closed as tight as possible for 5 years( I usualy apply one layer of tape where the cap meets the tube)and then try with the same cigar with a tube that has been opened you can smell the diffrence.

But I try to rest my tubes at least 5 years for them to develop and mature. If I would buy something I am planing to smoke in the near future(1-2 months) I would take of the cap for it to settle faster. This I would only do if it was a cigar that is tops 1-2 years old, if not I would not open it.

For the same reason I ziplock all my boxes in the long term aging as most collectors do.

I check a few then leave them as is with caps on, I generally like slow aging and then check all my cigars every Month or two.

I open them to check the condition then depends on how soon i plan to smoke them. if going to smoke them soon i leave the caps off, if storing for a while leave the cap on.

The point of a tubos is for it to mature in the tube sealed!
Only playing Devils advocate here....which is a role I enjoy from time to time, but I read a post from a Mod on another respectable CC forum (which I know you're a member of as well Ben..as are several here) that differs in opinion to this. My knowledge/experience is minimal compared to most, but here's his thoughts on tubes. The travel/damage aspect certainly makes sense as to the original intent of the tube IMO, but whadda I know?? Admittedly not a ton, but i'm workin' on that :computer:.

Post reads as follows:

When I buy in tubes, I take them out of the tube and I put the cigars in my humidor.

However, I do keep the tubes, tubes are great when going out for a night or longer and you don't want to bother with a Cigar Case or Cigar Caddy.

Tubes were never intended to be used for aging your cigars, they were originally intended as a safe way to carry some loose cigars in a pocket without damaging them.

I find that cigars do not mature or age well in their tubes, but if you want to age them like that, I'd advise keeping the tube open without the cap and allow the cigar to breathe.

I have heard they mature faster in tubes and cardboard box. Don't know what to believe...
