have my igloodor all set up. While I was seeking out a place that sells spanish cedar, I made temporary shelves out of 1/4" standard plywood. I then used about a 1" drill bit, and evenly spaced out drilled holes every inch.

It's been a couple of months now, my humidity is always 65%, and really having no issues. I've found a spot that sells spanish cedar to make shelves, but it has me wondering, is it nessesary? Am I just spending money unnecessarily for spanish cedar shelves? Are there draw back to sticking with the plywood long term.

Thanks

Personally when I set mine up, and I want one much larger than 48 Gallons, I will use wire shelves like these since I will be using it for box storage anyway....

I have the exact same setup above and followed Ron's instructions. I just use some empty cigar boxes, and it regulates the humidity just fine. The hardest part was cutting the wire shelves since the unit tapers towards narrow in the back. I just used some bolt cutters. The wire shelves can be bought by the foot at places like Home Depot or Lowe's. I wouldn't bother with the plywood.

That setup is about 12-13 years old...emptied it out in order to deploy here.

Maintains humidity perfectly.

Never felt the need to have cedrela shelves.

I wouldn't use Plywood. No telling what it might be giving off or what issues you might deal with. I would count yourself lucky you've had no problems and get the cedar or go with the wire shelves as above. I just wouldn't be sure if I could trust the glue not to off-gas in any way. As was mentioned above, the glue had formaldehyde in it.
