So this week I just won a number of auctions on Cigar Bid for the first time. I think I'm hooked. I can't stop hunting for deals! How do kick the habit and return to buy only a few sticks at a time at my B&M (especially since I work at one...)

BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Some site's are good for singles. SeriousCigars has the best selection available. TampaHumidor has free shipping and good prices on singles.
As for cbid, I pretty much only use quick buys on boxes. I don't care for the bidding and waiting for knuckle heads to out bid me by overpaying. Makes me wonder if people are that stupid or if cbid has people who outbid you.
I prefer CigarAuctioneer for bidding. Different selection but usually better prices. I do like Famous' exclusives best. Got me a box of Alec Bradley Sun Grown Robusto's for $55.00 shipped, they sell for $95.00.

Prices tend to be much better on Cigar Auctioneer... at least they rarely go above MSRP. I've gotten a few great deals there from time to time. Just have to kind of wing it, in my experience. Also you're not going to get some magical, amazing price on brands like Fuente, Padron, Tatuaje, etc. It just doesn't happen. Those lots are too popular. Gotta look for hidden gems.
I went nuts on cbid a few years ago, for many months, maybe a year. One day I realized I had gone nuts and couldn't keep spending the kind of money I was spending (I was buying elsewhere too, not just cbid). I stopped cold turkey and haven't been back. One extreme to the other and back. That was 2006 or 2007. I have probably bought less than 10 boxes since then and I still have plenty of cigars to choose from. The good thing about having waaaaay more than you can smoke is they age, fast. 
I scored a box of Torano Tributes on CigarAuctioneer for only $90. This week I got an 18 cigar 5 Vegas sampler for $30 and Perelmans Cigar guide for $7 on Cbid. Both sites are fun, each have their own strengths and weaknesses.
I think we all get addicted on the first visit, still haven't fully kicked it yet.

I visit CBid on a daily basis. "Window shopping" is what I call it :grin:. Anymore I've got plenty to smoke so it's gotta be a good deal on something I either love or really really want to try to get me to bid. In the past few months I've only bought a 10er of some Pinar del Rio and a 5er of CAO VR so I've done well. To be honest the only good deals I've been able to score on there have been on stuff that's not well known (no Tats or Padrons for sure!) and that's probably why I don't buy a lot more from there. Good luck getting the CBid monkey off your back.

I was bad for my first couple months when I got turned on to cigars, and I ended up with a lot of things that I didn't like, didn't have room for or overpaid for. Now that I have developed my tastes I usually only go for great deals on things I like and that I would buy anyway. I also use them for bulk stick purchases for weddings, bachelor parties and other large gatherings.
I myself am a reformed Cigarauctioneer.com addict. I must admit that I did manage to get a ton of awesome deals & in a 6 month stretch filled 2 large coolidors and never paid more than %60 of MSRP. Some Sweet Deals indeed but almost cooked my Mastercard......lol. The wife is still a bit miffed over that era.
