How far do you cut your torpedos?

In the past, I cut past the cap(s), which I suppose defeats the purpose of the figurado shape (and also creates an increased risk of unraveling).

not alot maybe 1/4 inch diameter, usually slighlty angled. I cut them with a V cut sometimes also.

I cut mine at an angle approximately 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch depending on pre-draw. Afterwards, depending on draw, I may cut away more.

When I am at the shop I will use the V-Cutter they have on the counter.

I'm slowly moving into this camp... don't like the tapered feel.

That said, there are a few I keep around. I usually cut between a quarter and a half inch.

Haven't heard of cutting on an angle before - interesting, I'll have to try it :thumbsup:

Don't smoke many torps, but usually cut it to around a 40-42 ring gauge

Heard that called a 'dick-cut'. Apparently named for someone named Dickson or Dickman....not for whatever reason you were trying to think of first :widemouth

I use the same technique on torpedoes as I do on standard cigars.

I cut as little off as possible to give a good draw.

I usually end up taking between 1/8 and 1/4" off. I go by the same advice my dad gave me regarding cutting lumber...you can always cut more off, you cannot always put it back on.

When I'm smoking a standard vitola, I just cut the very, very top cap off.

I use a Xikar back stop cutter for torpedoes or belicosos. This way, I can cut in very small increments and not worry that my hands are not steady.

I've come to enjoy a v cut on torpedos. Seams to solve a few problems I''ve had with a straight cut.

Yup same here. About 1/4 then clip away until I get the right draw

Torpedoes are my celebratory vitola - for some reason, nothing says AWESOME like a nicely rolled pyramide.

I also cut mine at a slight angle, enough to give me a slight resistance when drawing. Then I bite it a bit, which gets rid of that resistance. That's just me though.
