No problem on temps for me!!!
Update, I'm leaving on deployment soon (over 6 months) and for piece of mind, I am freezing everything for long term storage. Used freezer bags and suranwrap around my boxes......12 hours in fridge, two days in freezer, 24 hours back in fridge, 24 hours room temperature, then out of freezer bags into humidor and coolidor. After smoking two sticks that I just previously smoked (non freezer) and smoking the same two sticks after freezing, there was absolutely no flavor changes or burn/construction discrepancies!Same here.......new sticks go right in my coolidor! I try and keep things right at 65/65 so it's a non-issue for me personally.
Yes, I freeze every cigar that comes in my door in a subzero environment for 2 weeks then move it to the fridge for a week. I thoroughly examine every stick, label them with a unique barcode and keep documents on every cigar. Sticks are rotated and examined carefully every week and that is logged as well. I also plan out the days and times I am going to smoke as well as which particular cigar a month in advance. You can never be to careful and I strongly suggest all of you do the same thing!!Man you guys are scaring the crap out of me. I have never put anything in the freezer. Should I go ahead and do this with my supply or just keep doing what I am doing?
I actually do 1 day fridge, 3-4 days freezer, 1 day fridge when I do a freeze cycle. Never had a beetle problem since I started doing that. After talking with Fia regarding beetle and freezing, my routine for all cigars are now 3 days minimum in -2F freezer then 1 day out in room temp before seeing my humidor. I vacuum bag them and throw them with very little air possible. Why take the chance? No need to knock on wood, no need to worry if your wineador craps out, no need to monitor them for beetles, if your AC breaks, whatever... Also, if big boys like Padron freezes all their cigars before shipping I don't see any harm in freezing at all. Just my $.02
