I sure as hell am. So I started doing some research on low cost plans. My priorities in order are making calls, reading emails and responding to urgent emails, minimal web browsing, and occasional tethering of a laptop. I work from home, so tethering and web browsing would be minimal. by the way, I still have not found a way to tether with this phone, but working on it

Found this package over on Slickdeals. You buy a Verizon Palm Pixi 2 for $55 delivered. Its
being discontinued by Verizon. Then you sign up for PagePlus. They have a $30 a month plan with 1200 minutes talk, 2000 text messeges, and 200 mb of data. No contract. Online dealers do the setup for a $1 to $5 service charge. $15 to port a number. You can do it yourself, but some folks have trouble.

goodbye $180 a month Verizon bill. Hello $60 a month PagePlus bill.

I too am looking for other low cost cell phone options as I'm sick of TracFone. My phone constantly drops or disallows calls and their customer service has been useless in addressing the problem.

I've not heard of Page Plus so I searched for opinions. I see their customer service is generally rated as poor.

How long have you used their service Ron? What have your experiences been?

have not used them yet.

they use the Verizon system, so most seem real happy with the service itself.

regarding customer service, most complain about the main office service, so most customers use the retailers for service and get way better results.

I have 3 Palm Pix Plus ordered. 2 will be on monthly plan. $30 each per month includes 1200 minutes, 2000 texts and 200 mb data for each phone. its recommended that you turn off the data when you really dont need it. Use wifi if available, and turn on data when needed.

the other will just be a spare phone. 2000 minutes for $80 that expires in one year, wifi only for web browsing.

comes to $67 a month for all three.

uses verizon, which is costing me $180 plus a month for 2 phones sharing 1400 minutes, no texts, and unlimited data. while the 200 mb of data for each phone might not be ideal for some people, it looks like it will be more than enough for me.

Sprint unlimited everything plans can't be beat. I would pay $60 to $80 more for the same plan on Verizon or AT&T. Sprint's customer service has been great for me so check them out.

I switched my wife's cell phone to page plus. Bought the pixie for $45 and $80 for 2000 minutes and a year. Better than $45 a month.

Ron, with a smaller bill/less of a write off(I would think 100% in your case) don't forget to factor in the income tax increase when figuring out your actual savings.

nice, i have one with same plan, and using it as a wifi pda.

I am not very tech savy, but with the help of google, I am adding what I really need to the launcher, and getting the important apps to the first launcher page.

I am very happy so far.

Point taken.

I am sure that I can find another toy to write off with the $100 a month that I will be saving.

Looked at the Pixi in real life and it's really not for me. The keypad is too small and the text on both the screen and keys is hard for me to see without my reading glasses. The one I looked at also took forever to boot up initially.

I have read many good comments on PagePlus though and will definately give it a try with my wife's old LG Env.

WebOS is really awesome, I hope HP doesn't drop the ball on future devices since they bought Palm.
Theres supposed to be the HP Veer which is like an even smaller but more powerful phone coming out at some point.

I was on SERO and had to give it up to get the launch day Palm Pre, but I found a way to get employee discount to at least take off some of the price so its still less than any other carrier and with unlimited data.
