Relight question….

Okay, I have a question for a very specific situation….

Your cigar goes out, and you tap off the ash to relight. At this point you notice that you have a crater at the end of you cigar. The center is hollow, and the wrapper serves as the edges of your crater….Sort of an inverted cone shape.

What do you do?

I tend to burn away the ‘walls’ (ie wrapper edges) of the crater, and then wait until they cool. Then I tap away the ‘walls’ so that I now have a more or less level foot to light.

Any other methods for the crater dilemma?

(And yes…This is either a construction problem or the cigar is too wet….I get it. Just want to see how others deal with this!)

I ususally cut to the lowest point of the crater, but depends on how far you are when it goes out. Over 1/2 yes, I'll re-cut. Under 1/2, no, I'll burn the edges.:cbig:

Wouldn't you like to know?
Too lazy for all the fancy shit. I just use a torch and only light the outside edge then smoke from there. Generally find I will catch it before it gets to that point as can usually taste when the wrapper stops burning and will either purge till the burn fixes or take a lighter to it to fix.

This is the same for me, nothing fancy, just light the edges and maybe a puff or two with the flame across the entire foot.

I either relight the edge, and keep motoring on, especially if it's otherwise a good tasting smoke. If it's not that good, then I usually cut past it, and relight fresh.

every relight (all situations) I torch the wrapper evenly all around and blow a few times to get a nice even burn going again.

I just take a torch to it and start with the outside edge. Recommence smoking. If I get to the center of the crater I may give it a quick torch in the middle for good measure.

Was thinking about this very question tonight while smoking a pdr oscuro old blend which constintely went out on me. I would clean off the ash torch the end then proceed as if I was lighting the cigar for the first time. Eventually just pitched it.
