Is a wineadore that does not have a setting higher than 65* too cold?

Is a Ranco ETC temperature controller a must?

Does anyone keep there cigars colder than 65*?

What are your thoughts?

I have kept mine 62-65 and it has not been a problem, I believe you wont notice anything differnet unless your sub-60. 65* is perfect IMO.

i keep my long term storage around 55*f. the general consensus is low temp. just slows the aging process. which can be a good thing. only real problem i've heard of from low temps, is issues with condensation... which i haven't personally experienced.

At my highest setting mine stays around 64, the only problems I have had is the fact that the unit runs so much in the summer the fans dry out the beads in a week. I unplugged it during the winter months and never watered my beads once and it was a rock solid 65%. I plugged it in 2 weeks ago and have watered the beads twice now. I am definitely going to an ETC to keep it closer to 70 degrees and water the beads a hell of a lot less. I also had a lot of condensation pooling in the bottom of the unit.

I'm going ETC to keep mine higher because it is a condenser style unit and down here the damn thing runs constantly in the summer (that and it will occasionally decide to lose the temp setting and switch over to one of the pre-set 'Red' or 'White' settings). There is no issue keeping them cooler so long as it doesn't affect other factors as noted above. If you are using a thermoelectric you may not have to worry, but I think most of them have fans as Craig notes, right? Either way, you certainly can keep them below 65*, it just may give you some other issues to have to deal with.

65 degrees is fine.
most people use the seperate temp controller so that they can set the temp at 70, and have the wine cooler run less, which can help eliminate condensation problems.
so setting at 70 is more of a humidity issue than an actual temp issue
