hEY GUYS,

QUICK QUESTION.

Has anyone owned or shot a Ruger p85 9MM? Is this a decent gun for $200? Not goin gto see much use on a day to day, a buddy has one for sale and another buddy is asking. I told him I knew some guys who might know. There are probably better guns for same money, but the question is about this one. Thanks

its a brand name and goes bang for $200, they are NOT ccw worthy they are big and awkward, and i have never seen a steel ruger shoot consistent groups

I shot one a while back and I didn't really like the trigger pull, but it is a solid gun that will do the job. My friend did complain about a little bit of rust. It is just something that you have to keep an eye out for. If it was just a gun to keep around the house for protection or just to have fun at the range then I think you will have a hard time beating the $200 price tag. If it is being sold from one friend to another, see if he could take it to the range and fire a few shots out of it before he decides.

That seems a bit expensive to me. A new P95 can be found for about $300.

I think $200 for a used Ruger P85 in good condition is a good deal.

As mentioned rugers P series are known as dependable pistols but their drawbacks are that they are on the chubby side. So they are a little more difficult to conceal than other pistols. They are also known to have a little stiffer trigger pull. But for a $200 pistol you are not going to get everything you want.

Save your money. It's not that great of deal. Thats 200 bucks you could put towards ammo (assuming you already own a gun(s)) or training. Not worth it imo, unless you know somebody you can turn around and sell it to for a profit.
