What I figured, but also what turned me off. I have strong convictions and would be upset if I found out I was indirectly supporting a cause I'm very much against.
Well I'll be donating to some form of animal charity for sure, some charity benefiting Nicaraguan children, some cancer charities and of course organizations fighting for our smoking rights. We will be posting pics of the checks as they are sent out. I'm also gonna let the club chose on our forum. This way we are all involved in giving back.

Thanks, but no thanks. Good luck with the project I'm sure it will do well.

I think he is a hunter and the animal thing got him.
I hope thats not the case, you can still hunt but be supportive of animal charities. Pete didn't say he was donating to PETA....for all we know it could be an animal shelter to help save dogs.

itallushrt, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and such, but what charities would you like to see Pete donate to? or would you rather him just pocket all the money?

Hendy is correct.

I asked a question because, as I already stated, I have strong feelings for activities I'm passionate about, and I work very hard to promote those activities through several outlets. It would be counterproductive for me to knowingly support the same organizations I oppose.

Perhaps a portion of the funds generated from my occasional Tatuaje core line purchases go to various organizations I am fundamentally against, but I've never seen it in print that they will or do. Should I someday then I will graciously exercise my ability of choice to look at their competitors and spend my money on their products instead.

BTW, asking what charities I might support instead is beyond the point and then asking if I feel the money should be pocketed is a bit juvenile IMHO.

...

Everyone enjoy their weekend. I know I am going to.

Pete may need to clarify better. Could be he's refering to like a SPCA organization which I would totaly be down for. I am a hunter as well but the SPCA is one organization that doesn't go against any hunting or fishing beliefs I hold to my core beliefs.

Although I do not hunt, I grew up in a family of hunters and I support your decision to be a hunter and active in that community. I feel that if you are involved in an organization and passionate about it then you are entitled to pick and chose what charities you support. And I agree with you that you should not contribute to projects that support various organizations that you are fundamentally against. I just think Pete was very vague in his response about which organizations he will help support and you automatically dissmissed the idea because you assumed it would be one you don't agree with. And again, that is your choice for sure.

And I don't think it was beyond the point to ask which charities you would be supportive of because as Pete said, he will take suggestions via the forum for the project. If you are very passionate for OR AGAINST certain organizations then by all means your opinion should be heard if you were to join the club. If you feel my questions about whether you feel he should pocket the money or not was juvenile then thats your opinion. What I think is juvenile is that you automatically assume he's going to fund some group you dont support because he mentioned "animal charity."

Itallushrt, you are free to decide how and where to invest your money because you've earned that right. I just think we should get all the facts before deciding if we are going to support or not support something. And for anyone wondering I'm not a Tat or Pete nuthugger...I've smoked maybe 2 or 3Tatuaje cigars total so obviously not.

This is why I will not be participating.

as Pete said, he will take suggestions via the forum for the project.
Not this:

What I think is juvenile is that you automatically assume he's going to fund some group you dont support because he mentioned "animal charity."
My opinion may not have been the most popular on the forum and in the end, even with a fair democratic process, my money could be directed to a cause I refuse to support.

The safest risk is to not take the risk at all.

Im glad to see Pete is taking some of the funds generated from the S&S project and donating to charity. I cant see Pete donating to anything that would really be controversial, so I have no problem with him choosing where the money goes. Im cool with all the ideas he listed for where the donations would be headed. Good job Pete!
