So you are OK with that criminal that just stole your phone knowing your every move? Where you tend to go and when?
A criminal who steals my cell is not going to be concerned about my whereabouts, present or past. He's going to sell it for crack $$.

If I was a millionaire, and the thief had something to gain about knowing my travel habits and timelines, yes...I'd be concerned.

The issue here is "big brother", not some thief....This whole "I don't want to be filmed when I go to get gas...It's an invasion of my privacy" is what we are talking about.

i personally put the "I don't want to be filmed when I go to get gas...It's an invasion of my privacy" in a different category. I am willingly going to the gas station which I know has cameras. I'm not cool with things in my personal property that other companies can use to get information about me, something to hide or not.

Well, personally I would worry about the criminal stealing my phone, but that's just me.

As to the rest. I'm kind of on both sides of the argument. If the .gov (local or whomever) gets my phone via legal search and seizure methods then there isn't a whole lot I'm going to be able to argue about. Just so long as they get a warrant first.

I don't agree with Speed Cameras. But that has less to do with Big Brother and more to do with speeding laws.

I whole heatedly support red light cameras. That stop light isn't a F*CKING suggestion, *sshole.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

That just turns off all of the location services, i.e. GPS. Which means you can't use anything having to do with GPS. Kind of defeats the purpose of having GPS in your phone doesn't it?

Oh yeah, belated Happy B-Day Sandwich-Man!
Actually you can pick which app to turn off.

Thanks for the birthday wish.

I fail to see the difference between these two. The speed LIMIT is not a suggestion either (that's probably why they use the words "maximum" and/or "limit" on the signs).

Why? Does it harm you? Does it make you itch...Give you a rash? I just don't get what the big deal is.
Let's assume you are not a criminal (which I'm sure you're not) can you explain exactly why it bothers you?

There are huge differences between the two actions. Beyond that let's just say I disagree and leave it at that.

So, guess you would be fine if we just got rid of this?

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

I mean after all, if you have nothing to hide...

Don't need Miranda either, right?

I honestly can't to tell you the truth. I don't have any links to back up how I feel or any reference material, its simply just how I feel about it.

Eh? Nothing is being "searched" or "seized"...I think you are confusing the access of information that is available on you phone with someone illegally taking your property....2 different things!

I just downloaded the program and mapped my phone. Pretty impressive, albeit a little disturbing. I'm more concerned about the history of data in there, for me it goes back to early 2010.

The level of detail, at least that I saw in the mapping program, it not all there. It maps everything in a grid, so when you zoom all the way in on an area, there's a perfect grid of dots. So it's more of "you were roughly in this area" as opposed to a dot sitting on top of the local pub.

I'm not a fan of the depth of detail in there...I'd like to have some control over that. But to keep it and continue to allow features like Find my iPhone, I'm willing to trade.

BTW, I'm just going to encrypt my iTunes backup to not worry about the data going anywhere (always wondered why I would want to check that box to encrypt it).
