bro either way brand new or not an ETC is the way to go. If you scored a good deal on that cooler you should not have sold it. People who get brand new vinotemps still buy an ETC.

I happen to call Magic Chef and they said the programming for the thermostat is in the firmware, so therefore can't be adjust. How would connecting at ETC override that? I am sorry but I am very ignorant to electronics.

the cord for the cooler plugs into the ETC that has its own temperature control thermostat. Wherever the thermostat for the cooler is does not matter.

I may just break down and get one!! Does brand matter? Do I need to look for anything in particular?
Also has anyone installed one? How hard they to do. I am not mechanically inclined whatsoever, so it would be a shame for me to get and not be able to install.

Get the one linked in Justin's Wine Cooler 101 thread, it's pre-wired and all you do is thread the temperature gauge in to the cooler and plug in the cooler's cord into the ETC's cord. Couldn't be easier.

To expound on the last question, the ETC's thermostat controls when the cooler turns on and off.

So happy. Ordered my Edgestar 28 on Monday. Got 20% off for Tax Day and it came today along with 2 Chasidor shelves, and wireless Meade (just like the Honeywell) thermo hygrometer. Getting the smell out now. HF beads coming tomorrow. Can't wait to get it up to speed and work on filling the bad boy.

No, no. I just ordered the stuff at the same time from Compactappliance, Amazon and Chasidor. They happened to come the same day. HF beads came a day later.
