Okay, so sorry that I didn't announce this earlier--I only had a 36-hour notice that I"d be flying back to Japan with my 2 toddlers! I'm back in Japan now after over 2 months!

It was a rough trip ... if I had the option to turn around part way through the final flight, I'm sad to say I'd have done it. Fighting with the 1-year-old and 3-year-old by myself with a VERY unhelpful flight staff was just aweful. I'm planning to repress the memories of that entire experience presently.

But here I am, sitting back in my UNDAMAGED home in northern Japan! I'm hoping to go see the beach this week (what's left of it). My wife's been back for over 3 weeks and has done some volunteering a little farther south where it's really bad. She says it looks like it will take years to clean up and rebuild--longer for the poorer farmers, if they can at all.

I hope to be around BOTL more now that I'm back at home! I'll be spending some time nusing my cigar bins as well (though at first glance things seem to be okay--really glad I ordered those Shilaila beads right before I left! It also helps that the ambiant rH here is about 70% now.). I'll need to spend some quality time with my PS3 as well if the kids can get over jetlag enough to let me :)

I am glad to hear your house is ok. How far are you from the nuke plant?
Thanks Dan! Misawa 232 miles north. Theoretically far enough to be out of harm's way, but hopefully close enough to still see Godzilla when he inevitably shows up to syphen off the excess radiation :)

Flying halfway across the world with two toddlers? You are a braver man than me, Nate. Glad you are home safe.

Hope all is well for you and your family brother. I truelly wish the people of Japan a speedy recovery from this terrible tragity. Be really carfull at the beach as the water is contaminated along with the sand. I loved Misawa when I was there and the friends I made. Be safe!
