For some reason a lot of my favorite smokes recently have started tasting well.. bleah. I know it's me, because I would have friends over and they would be smoking cigars I offered them, and totally enjoying them.

I went to a B&M recently and discussed it with the owner and he recomended going back to mild smokes. He pointed out a Rocky Patel edge lite toro with a connecticut wrapper that was reasonably priced. I bought 2, and went to a friends house to sit on his porch and enjoy some conversation and a cigar. Normally I'd ahve never bought the RP as I'd always thought they were over hyped but this was a good mooth smoke with incredible draw and just the right amount of flavor for me.

Don't know why my tastes changed so drastically, but it was good to enjoy a smoke again.

Good for you, I am glad you are enjoying them again. Some other nice choices might be the milder Gurkhas, Cohiba Red Dots and Philly blunts.

lmao Justin...

Flyboy, I am glad to see someone enjoys RP's cigars. They are not within my flavor profile, but there is a cigar out there for everyone.
I cant lie Ive had my share of Rockys and I've liked them all.

I do understand the changing taste thing too.

When I started out I gravitated towards Maduros quite a bit, I really liked them. Lately I've been smoking more Habano and Cojoro wrapped cigars though. I've come to prefer them. I still like the Maddies, just not as much. Or who knows maybe thats what I've been in the mood for. Sometimes you just don't want a really heavy smoke like a good Maduro gives you

Hey, it's a good thing... it's natural to outgrown Backwoods, Ramrods, and White Owls... now, on to the good stuff!

I'm just kidding!! :eyepoke:

I know what you are talming about, I have gone back to cigars that I originally smoked and could not figure out what I saw in them. I have been smoking so many different types/countries in the last 6 months, that I cannot relate to a "go to cigar" right now. I do like to transition to milder cigars at least once a week just to make sure I have a base to compare to as some stuff out there is just too much intensity for me. It seems to keep me refreshed, but I am not an every day smoker, some times I get in 2-3 and other days I go for 3-4 days without one, maybe your frequency has something to do with it (maybe you are burning out your pallet)?

I've noticed this too. I've gotten to where I just don't enjoy the heavy ligero profile anymore like I did before. I've been smoking lighter, full flavored smokes and really enjoying them. I'm even smoking some Connecticut cigars again. Change is good.

Pay no attention to Justin's azzhat comment, lol. Smoke what you like, bro!

I acctually enjoy an Edge Lite myself now and then, though I enjoy the Sumatras a lot more.

The Edge series by RP is the only RP I keep in my humi. I like the "Lite" as well when I have a mild cold or sore throat. The "Sumatra" is nice as well although it's been over a year sense smoking one but I'd smoke one today no problem.
As far as taste change is concerned, I think it hapens to us all. Before BOTL I smoked mainly CI stuff. After joining BOTL and learning what else is out there I haven't touched that stuff in over a year. I've tried but it taste horrible to me know.

cohibo siglo's and davidoffs are really nice, mild smokes. ditto with the hemingway short stories. for a surprising mild treat, try a vegueros seoane with some age on it.

I have come to realize two things, diet and food choices affect flavors, and if I smoke too many full bodied strong cigars within a short period of time it burns my palate out.. After a couple days things go back to normal.
