Quick question. Why do 99% of CCs have a much smaller ring gauge as compared to their counterparts?

Because Cuba understands what make a great cigar.
for real though...because smaller ring gagues offer a more pronounced wrapper flavor, as it does not have to compete with 60 rg of filler.

Pretty much with what you said about the cuban smokers slender build. I heard that Cubans have smaller hands. So they prefered slimmer RG's.
I'm willing to bet that both of the above ideas play into it. That being said, you can see in the recent history that Cuba has been moving towards the larger ring gauges because that is what has been in vogue (in the states, *cough,cough*). It's something to keep an eye on, IMHO. While I certainly enjoy some of the larger ring gauge cigars that have come out (Monte Petit Edmundo and Edmundo, RyJ Short Churchill for instance), the smaller (I would say medium) ring gauge cigars are my bread and butter. I just don't care for the 50+ RG cigars overall. The flavors have always seemed more concentrated to me in the smaller ring gauges.

You'd probably be surprised then that very few Cubans smoke the Cuban cigars others have access to. The governmental ration cigar for the Cuban national is called Reloba, not something you would go after.

And they haven't really cared about following the crowd until being bought out a couple times. Then they had to have profit margin, marketing and gimmicks.

Usually it means less, even, because the wrapper leaf is competing with a bunch more lower priming, less flavorful tobacco present in the blend for combustion, rather than flavor.
I think this is because Cuba caters to the world except U.S.A. Everyone else caters to the U.S.A.
In the U.S.A. more is better. I want a stronger smoke. Hey how bout a double ligero. Nah better make it a triple ligero. Hey let's make a fat 54 ring cigar. Nah we better go with 60. More is much better. Hey let's make a super exclusive cigar. We'll make only 100 boxes. Nah, we better only make 10.
Hey these jet lighters are cool let's make a double. nah, let's go quad jets that's much more better. etc. etc. etc.
Now we are in the realm of vulgarity. 60 ring gauge cigars, quad jets, triple ligeros. damn! really?
The cool thing is that people that stick with it soon start going back to the classics. slimmer ring gauges, soft flames (matches and spills). Going back old school. roots , purity, Puros.
