I was wondering if anyone else has eyes that wander and find hidden boxes of vintage cigars in your B&Ms.

I was in Studio City yesterday and while sitting with the owner, my eyes wondered into the humidor and caught an old familiar box. It was a trapezoid shape I remembered from pre 2006 Camacho Diplomats. It was on the top storage shelf. I went into the humi and grabbed the box. There was still nine cigars in the box, dated 2005.

He then told me that he still had a box of 2003 11/18s. I love finding lost treasures. Needless to say, I bought the 2005s. Great cigars.

Just thought I would share the story with you and see who else finds hidden treasures...

With a couple B&Ms, I know where they stash a lot of the old and/or rare stuff away... out of deference to the owners, I don't just plunge in... but I always ask if there is "something I'd be interested in". Have come across a number of great or HTF sticks that way.

I too have found many a stick tucked away in the recesses of B&M's. That is why when I travel, if there's one close, I check it out. You never know what you might find.

Nice story. It has happen on occasion when I get into a shop. I think the last was finding a box of unopened ECCJ at Corona.

Sometimes the best places to find the "gems" are in the itty bitty shops off the beaten path.

just sayin...

I know I giggled myself silly when Hal brought a box of Cloth Band O's into Empire...:blob:

Something from history's pages here....

2 years ago a few of the "Leafers" went on a dozen or so B&Ms pillaging old stock. Boxes of various years of Opus, DC Maximus, Stanford 90ths, Anejos, MB 1s, Camacho Liberties and other brands were had . It was a fun time.

Andy...maybe you could start a new program called "Cigar Storeage Wars"...my eyes are always wandering over stock in B&M's to see if there isn't a prize somewhere. Sadly my eyes aren't what they used to be and I've probably passed over some great boxes. Sucks to get old.

Last weekend I ran across of a box of 8-5-8 Natural Sun Grown! But the owner wouldn't sell them to me. Sure wish he did! They are awesome.

I have never had a vintage nc. I don't know how you guys define vintage but at least 20 years to make it vintage IMO. Aged ncs I have had, my favorite would be a opus x dc from 2002 if I am remembering the year correct.

I've gotten a ton of Liberties dated all the way back to 2004 that way. That and I saw an OLD looking box at a shop once, turned out to be a box of German Cigars from the 30s.... right underneath a box of cigars from the USA in the 40/50s.

Yea I too have found some GREAT smokes from time to time that way. Also some B&M's will keep a few boxes that will become hard to find and put them out a year or two later.
