Friend just sent me this pic and was wondering about serial numbers being cut off of boxes.

These are from a box of RyJ Short Churches that arrived today.

I'll preface my response by stating, "I'm no expert", but I don't believe that these are necessarily counterfeit or fake. Quite a few "grey market" sources, including many reputable ones, follow this practice. This is done so that that particular box cannot be traced back to the original (official) distributor.

Some other photos would be needed to determine if these are, in fact, fake. The appearance, construction, smell, and ultimately, smoking experience should confirm if they are fake or not.

I have seen this a lot. Bar codes are routinely cut off boxes being sold outside the territory of the original distributor. This is probably not a fake box if everything else looks right.

Agree with ninersfan ... just that ain't indication ... and actually rather common even
