While I am with other cigar smokers frequently people ask to share someone's cutter, which is no problem. But, a peeve of mine is when I see a smoker place their cigar in their mouth to wet it before using someones or my cutter for their cigar. I know we are brothers but not that close of a brother, that's just gross not to mention unsanitary.

Huh. I've never thought of this. I'm positive I've done this before. I don't slobber on the thing, but I always wet the wrapper before cutting. I'll have to keep this in mind when borrowing a cutter in the future.

They were talking about this on the cigar authority, or dogwatch... cant remember... but I don't see an issue. Your hands touch shit all day, then you handle that cigar and put it in your mouth anyways.

I think thats why kids are sick, and allergic to everything these days. Were so concerned about sterilizing everything, that our bodies never get introduced to the small amounts of bacteria necessary for our body to build up immunities.

So cut your cigar with the community cutter, and get tough. :cbig:

When I have my own cutter I often wet the cigar first--keeps down on wrapper crackage during the cut. But I definately don't do it when I need to borrow someone's cutter! Gross.

That's almost as gross as when I see guys in a shop/humidor who pick up a cigar and sniff it (i.e. rub it all under their nose) and then put it back in the box! How nasty is that!!

Agreed. Around here we all trade cigars around if it's something worth tasting, and we are all still alive and kicking.

I'm a little put off when I see somebody do that with a shops cutter. That's
why I carry my own. That way if I cut it once and stick it my pie hole and decide
the draw isn't good then I can take it and cut off a little more without feeling
guilty about leaving my saliva on the cutter.

I actually caught myself waiting to snip my wet cigar after someone else used my cutter. On the one hand, it's MY cutter, on the other, waiting a few secs never hurt anybody.

I usually don't wait, but someone asked, so I did.

You're talking to a guy who has a small HARD DRIVE case with a cutter and 3 lighters. :innocent:

Hmmmm...never really thought of it till now! I try to keep extra cutters lying around anyways, so it's not an issue here. Plus I'm not sure I really care that much unless the persone is completely gross...In which case I wouldn't be hanging out with anyway's.

It's kinda gross but it's one of those things where people don't really think before they do it. Just carry your own cutter and be stingy when someone asks to use it.

My buddy always does this so what I do is if I'm going over to smoke I just cut it at home.
