Wow! ... Saw aerial shots of the Mississippi tornado from a couple months back and this is by far worse. Im sure pictures do it no justice. So sad...

As bad as the photos are, it hard to think of what the devastation looks like on the ground.

I'm sure pictures do it no justice. I'm still amazed at the wrath tornados have had this season.

The amount of damage is astounding. Today the weather service said the toradado was a EF-5, which means winds of 200mph. Amazingly they are finding survivors amidst the rubble.

JT told me Dan (the bug man) lives in Joplin and I see from a post above that Frank does too. Anyone else have any family in that area? My prayers go out to everyone. I can't believe all the twisters this year!

I grew up in that area. Still have lots of friends in joplin, some family. All were spared. Not a single one suffered any damage to their house. My cousin and Aunt have spent the last 3 days helping dig thru rubble. Here is a link to the photos they have taken in the last 2 days.

Today is the first day I've been able to get on here, on a computer. (Hard to mess with on my phone.)

It's something else down here. I'm back to work, today. I was off due to water pressure issues. I didn't get close enough to see any of the direct damage, this morning. My wife works at the *former* hospital down here. She's a nuclear medicine technologist, and had to go there to retrieve their source radiation from the office. She was terribly shaken by seeing what it's like in there, and around the area. The hospital has fortunately vowed to pay the employees as long as possible, and depositing money into the accounts of the ones that lost everything. And they will rebuild... So, this is good news. But needless to say, my wife is seriously worried about her employment.

They finally set up a curfew for the damaged area, and issuing permits for people to come into the area, to reduce looting.

And yes, we had to spend last night in the bathtub, again, with the threat of yet another damaging tornado coming near.

Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts sent down this way. It is truly appreciated.

If the Air Force ever moves me into Tornado Alley, I am definitely putting in a storm cellar...
