Guys,

I currently have the 28 bottle cooler Avanti. I had an igloo before but the wife said get rid of the eye sore. So, now I'm out of space for boxes. Should I break down all current boxes and store the cigars in ziplocks? Another cooler is out of the question, we currently have four 3 for wine 1 for cigars.

Thanks
Dee

Who needs 3 wine coolers for WINE?

Seriously, that's a tough one. You could look into getting a couple of drawers to store the cigars in as singles if you are storing half filled or less boxes? Transitioning them to ziplocks is one idea, but you probably risk some damage that way.

Go to the local B/M and see if they have lockers. Rent one, then store your extra there. The wife will be none the wiser except that you won't be home as much. :)

I have extra room, send them to me.... Smoke more....

Seriously, I went to all drawers in my edgestar just so that I could store more efficiently, still running out of room.

I'm having somewhat of the same problem.... Right now I'm storing several boxes in my locker. The wife and I will eventually come to an agreement about a humidor for the house. Hopefully I'll get my way!!:king:

do a temporary igloodor/tupperdor and keep it at places your wife don't see them. Don't buy any more cigars for a while until you have room.

(or send a couple of boxes to me, I don't have a wife)

I use this: http://www.haieramerica.com/en/product/HBCN05FVS
It has a compressor but my wife keeps the house at 60 in winter and 70 in summer so I never need to run it.
Designed to hold cans upright, so if your boxes are shorter than a can standing upright, they will fit on the shelf. My taller boxes go in the bottom shelf.

Holds humidity and temp really well. 2 lbs of beads and haven't touched them since last fall.

I ran into this a while back myself. I reasoned that the trouble I was having had more to do with the "wasted" space taken up by all the unique box shapes (had a couple of the pyramid shaped camacho boxes in there, among others) so I ended up picking up a couple of boxes from the Torano Connecticut (blue label?) tubos. Given the tubes around already large cigars, the boxes are just huge... They're also shelved, and the space between the interior slats is large enough to hold a 60+ rg stick. So, I cut the slats out of the shelves, filled em up with stuff from the oddly shaped boxes, and ended up with - best guess - 40 to 50% more box storage in the same space. Still keeps the aesthetic, but is much more spatially efficient.

Kind of a tough one there.... once the wife is involved. Can't you store the igloo somewhere more discreet? Igloo's are pretty much the only cheap, long term, spacious storage option for aging.

Good luck man.
