Recently I learned a lesson about online purchasing of cigars. If you purchase something with the 'gift' option, you will not be able to dispute the charge should your cigars never show up....as in my case. Paying the fees is totally worth it. 3.80 or something to that effect could have saved me about 110.00....Just wanted to pass that along and hope it helps someone else.

Sounds like common sense advice to me. I'd hope the seller would at minimum split the loss with you, and/or make good on what he sold you. I'm sure it could also create a number of issues and hard feelings too if you had paid the fees and peepail went after the seller for it (especially if they could show proof of having shipped the item)

Sorry if what I wrote is/was confusing- I have a tendency to type and not think....I got beat by a guy online- on a very popular forum- not a retailer....and he has not answered a single email, not sent the cigars, or otherwise done anything except accept my money...most people post 'pay with the gift option, etc. etc.', which I will never do again...he took people for well over $2000 since January apparently.

I'd usually say give the guy a chance to make it right, but it sounds like he has no interest in that. If he has such a shady history, and other people might get screwed over in the future, call him out.

He is absolutely not a Brother of the Leaf, and yes he has been added to the scumbag list. He pulled this crap before under a different username and then deleted his account only to reappear with an entirely new username some time later. He made numerous trades, successfully, and with great feedback to boot before screwing a bunch of new blood for- I am guessing- about $1000 this time around.
Worst thing is that one of the guys that got had is brand, brand new to the cigar smoking community. That really pissed me off/saddened me.

CraigMac- Thanks...and that is a good point. I am re-thinking how I will be paying for purchases moving forward.

The items he was 'selling' were also htf stuff- Barclay Rex, htf and aged Opus boxes, etc.- which makes him even more of a scumbag- by getting people excited about having found cigars that are otherwise hard to find.

ciggy- you are the best bro :)....thanks for your support and empathy guys.
