For the band-savers out there:

Anyone have a good technique for removing and unwrapping an LP band? I keep ripping mine and it is driving me nuts.

I saw someone use this technique.

Take a soft frame lighter and hold it near the band, where the band has been glued together.

Slowly warm up the glue and then peel away.

Never tried it before but looked pretty easy.

Hope that this helps

I pull mine all the way off the cigar (still glued) then use one of my pocket knives (or any very sharp blade/scissor) to cut just outside of the Lion Rampant logo... True, it wastes some of the band (as the part that the thin logo is glued to remains glued to the back of it), but it's better than ruining the whole band

This sounds brilliant... I kinda feel like a chuckle-head for not having thought of this myself. I've been lining them up on a shelf in the bathroom, thinking the steam from the shower would help. This has not produced any results, aside from the wife getting grumpy (she thinks I'm leaving my "trash" lying around).

Thanks!

if it won't slide off, (which is not an easy feat w/ these)

I use a straight razor VERY CAREFULLY, and that does it for me

I have been able to pill a few off. I have a large band collection but haven't inspired myself to do anything with them.

This may be too random to add on here, but the thought of king size bed comforter with the liga privada logo on it would be the coolest thing ever

never had a problem taking it off after about 20 minutes of smoking, always seems to slide off for me.

.....at least they aren't as bad as Fuente, not only is the band hard to get off but it's glued to the cigar.

I have the perfect solution for you...

Send all your Liga Privadas to Joplin... Dan and I will carefully remove all the bands, very net and keeping them pristine.

Then, we will send the bands back to you.

Sounds like it would work, perfectly!

This sounds like a heckuva deal! I'll be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope, so you guys don't have to shell out the cash to ship my bands back to me...:crosseyed
