So I'm cleaning out my e-mail inbox and come across one from Cigar.com. The title is "New Nub Plus". Hell, I've been dealing with other stuff for two weeks and apparently missed a new Nub release, but what is a Nub Plus?? Well it's a 5 x 60 version of the Nub line. I'm sorry, but the whole premise of the Nub idea is that it's the "sweet spot" of the cigar. How in the hell do you make a 5" sweet spot :scratchhe...and if they're doing it, how come no one else is :dunno:.

Here's the link to see for yourself...http://www.cigar.com/cigars/viewcigar.asp?brand=830&campsrc=true

This is the same thing that I thought of...:shame:

Maybe they want you to cut it in half before you light it up? This way, you can share with your friends and not have to deal with the cumbersome 'culebra'? Maybe? :dunno:

I like the nubs, but the Plus isn't getting any of my $. For some reason i think the 4x60 is a tolerable size, but anything longer with a 60 rg is just too big.

I'm still waiting for the lancero.

Lol! Right!

As a sidenote, did you also see the Cain FFs that you can add as the upgrade? Torpedo FF I had from the Studio Tobac was one of the best cains I've had to date (second only to the original F robusto 5-packs), and I'm looking forward to a full release of these guys.

Yeah, once Sam left Oliva, I haven't given them a second thought. The nubs weren't really my favorite, but Sam is such a great guy and will answer questions for hours about everything Cigar/Steelers related, that I would pick some up at events to smoke and hand out. He's made a few really sweet custom cigars at events.

Didn't see that. I was a big fan of the original Cain F. Little stronger than I normally smoke, and not amazingly complex, but man did they hit the spot.

Is the torp similar?

Not really. Runs a bit heavier than what I remember of the originals (though, still have a single in my box that I'll probably never smoke). Definitely more searing through the sinus, and a little bit darker in profile than the current production Fs, as well. Not sure that I'd get a box, but I'd be interested to try 'em in the different vitolas (I hope they make a corona) before swearing to that.

Along the same lines, I'd buy a box of the F lanceros today if they were available and no more than $6-8. The one I had was wonderful. If anything, it reminded me more of the original Fs than anything I've had since.

That said, I'll amend my prior statement and rank them:
Favorite- Original Unbanded Cain F robusto
Second- F lancero
Third- Cain FF Torp

Well that was how it was sold, but we all know the reason the NUb on some cigars is so good, is because it has seen the smoke from the rest of the cigar pass through it over the hour before we got to the nub. While a few of them we decent (habano) they never really blew my skirt up. However I got a NUb maduro in a bomb yesterday and actually look forward to trying them one more time.
