All righty boys...got some big changes going on my life here in the next couple of weeks. I deploy for Afghanistan in Father's Day, June 19th. That's exactly 10 days and 13 1/2 hours or so from the time of this post.

Going over on a one year contract with an environmental gig. Not in the army, won't be in the line of fire and definitley not on the front line. But none the less, I'll be in Afghanistan for the better part of a year. I get the equiivalent of 45 days R&R.

I know we've got a few boys on here that are currently stationed there. I won't know what base I'm at til I get there, which will take about a week from the time I leave home on the 19th. Have to stop in fort worth and also in dubai for a couple days.

I'm gonna bet that my activity on here will increase considerably. Funny how that works..when I'm self emplyed I have very little time to post...when I'm working for the man, I've got loads of time to post. Not sure what that says about me and my work ethic...

anyhow, bon voyage fellas. I'll meet ya in the sand lot

Regardless of your military status, be safe and God bless you. Take great care of yourself and think, now you have access to the best of both worlds when it comes to smokes... Don't forget to send "family pics" every once in awhile.

Good luck, dude. Although you won't "be on the front lines", it's a dangerous place no matter where you are, and chances are there will be times when you are moving between bases in military transport. You may have to carry a weapon in order to travel...hard to say. If and when you go out, listen carefully to everything told to you by the guy in the uniform, and follow instructions immediately. I traveled with a lot of civilians while I was in Iraq, and about half of them had their head up their ass while traveling in very dangerous places. Don't be that guy. Cheers and enjoy your tour!

Are you going to able to get cigars there?
I've got a 32 count pelican that I got from our local retailer RonC.

it'll be full and that will last me for a month if i get one a day in. I plan to place an order as soon as I get settled in to my "home" base. that way I shouldn't run out.
