The Transportation Security Administration stood by its security officers Sunday after a Florida woman complained that her cancer-stricken, 95-year-old mother was patted down and forced to remove her adult diaper while going through security.

Ha! Take that, Osama Bin Grandma!

Seriously, will the TSA ever get a clue? They've patted down little crying kids and forced a paraplegic to strip. WTF. Diligence is one thing. Humiliation is something else altogether.

Honestly, I don't even think the humiliation is intentional. There are just some REALLY dumb people working for the TSA.

The elderly, children, and the disabled. I'd really like to know who trains these mental midgets......absolutely ridiculous.

I guess I'm going to be the one to go against the grain here and say that no one is forcing these people to fly. Don't like the rules? Don't get on the plane.

Everyone is demonizing these TSA agents like they are making up policy on the spot, but what are they supposed to do? They can't ignore the rules for some people because they don't look like terrorists.

Not to mention that if a terrorist was trying to get something onto a plane, would anyone put it passed them to use the elderly, disabled, or kids to further their cause?

Kind of what I was thinking too, had they found c4 in grannies Depend the TSA would be praised for it.

I guess I should mention that I'm not a fan of the TSA's new security measures either. Americans are obsessed with the appearance of security, instead of security measures that actually work, but might be a little rough around the edges.

then search EVERYONE! don't be afraid of "profiling".

and the same goes for the corps of engineers. follow the manual. don't use any common sense. let billions of dollars of damage happen and then walk away because you "followed the rules".

Flying is often the only practical way to travel. Everyone is well aware of the need for airline security. But how about some common sense? Sure granny could have some C4 stashed in her Depends, but it's highly unlikely and, even so, there are less invasive methods of determining that.

That's a very good point. Forcing everyone to remove their shoes is false security, for example.

90% of the Thousands Standing Around seem ok... but a good 10% REALLY ruin it.

...and don't get me started on those stupid naked body scanners.
