Now don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of almost anything Padron - right from the Anniversary series down to the x000 lines, but for some reason I almost always find the draw on them to border on too loose when I cut them with my palio.

Curious if others feel the same way, and if there is a known reason for it? Are they loosely packing the tobacco or underfilling it or something? Could it be the boxpress?

From now on, I think it's a v-cut for me on the Padron line....

I've only smoked 3 (2x x000 & 1x anni). All had annoyingly loose draws no matter how little I take off the top. Good idea on the v-cut. I'll try that or a punch next time.

Draw testing, something the industry needs to do more of.

Some cigars just need the smaller cuts, Pete Johnson is a huge advocate of nothing but punching mixed filler cigars, although that's for different reasons.

Be careful punching the Annys... I'm sure you're more than aware, but that's one helluva brittle cap up there, and if you haven't softened it up, you'll split it every time.

I haven't ever used anything but a double guillotine to cut the caps on mine so I cannot say if the draw is any different with a punch or v-cut or whatever. What I can say is that while the Padrons I have smoked tended to have consistently looser draws than other brands, I have yet to have one that was uncomfortably loose for my tastes.

Haven't had one in many years, but I recall how disappointed I was with the loose draw on Padron Churchills, as it took away from what should have been a very enjoyable cigar. Never had any problems with PAMs.

Padron is touch on the loose side but in all the years of smoking them there has never been one that's been plugged.

I have had the X000's, Anny's, 26's and the 45, and never really noticed anything too loose. I always cut with a double guillotine, and never have had a problem.

How hard are you sucking on those poor sticks of yours B ?

Most draws I've had have been fine, a little on the loose side, but I don't mind those so much. Had a 40th a week or so ago and it was actually pretty tight. Was surprised by that.

I agree with Dan, Padrons draw is looser than other cigars but ive never had one that seems to loose. I go through about half a dozen Padron boxes a year!

I also agree, too loose for my preferences. I don't like a punch or v-cut so I can't say whether that will help any. I still enjoy Padron on a semi-regular basis but definitely would like something a bit more firm.

It's a bit loose, but I just puff more lightly, sit back amongst the billows of creamy smoke and wonder: how do you get the seemingly contradictory attributes of a loose-ish draw, slow even burn, firm chalk-white ash, perfect cherry cone, and signature satisfying Padron flavor, all wrapped up in a zero-maintenance package?

Then I say five Hail Jose-Orlandos and continue.

Padrons have a looser draw than most, but as most said, zero plugging issues and an awesome burn. I get tons of smoke at every draw, they never heat up or plug, and burn almost razor even. Personally, I'm not a fan of cigar feeling like I'm trying to drink a McDonald's milkshake. I'm confused why there is complaining?

If only every company rolls their cigars this well.

(the patches on wrapper leaf, now that's another story...)

After smoking numerous Padrons, I thought I was the only one with the loose draw issue. Of all the cigars I own, I only like the Padrons at 70% rh. I also can only cut them with a punch (never tried V). Especially the SI-15, that thing will suck air right through it as if you were normally breathing!

I've only smoked three, two of which were recently. I didn't think of it at the time, but now that you mentioned it I do remember them being quite loose. There was a lot of smoke and a lot of flavor though and I enjoyed every single one of them. I've got one left that I may jump on tonight :)
