So I have just received my shipments of some fine tasty new smokes. I am trying to organize the humidor and I now have a few questions.

1) should move cigars that were on bottom row up and and top row down?
2) if cigars came in plastic do I take them out?

Humidor holds approx 55-65 at 4 rows high of 15

Thanks for any advise.

Happy 4th gents!!

Cello or no cello, that is the question.

I leave the sticks as they come.

I try and rotate my sticks also but I don't lose sleep over it.

I have shelves in my humidor though.

What did you have come in?

Brother, it's all a matter of taste. People do move their inventory around on occasion for various reasons, but I wouldn't bother doing it often... If you think they are crammed on the bottom without getting any circulation, them maybe you could switch them around.

If the cigars came in the cello, I personally leave them in. Keeps the cigars from getting beat up etc, and the cello is made to breathe. This is a personal decision and debate as well so you will just learn as you go what you prefer.

both your questions come down to personal preference. Rotating sticks helps but if you have solid humidor don't really need to. I do it just to see if i find any lost gems at the bottom.

Cello or no Cello, that is a debate that will go on for ages. just comes down to what you like. me i leave em on cause it helps protect the wrappers if i shuffle or if i send some off. comes down to personal taste.

With a small humi such as yous you don't need to rotate too often, but it's good to do it as you feel to help circulate humidity.

Sometimes you'll get a cigar that burns more on one side, a lot of times its because it's been sitting in the same corner of the humi for a long time.

These are little details that don't really affect things too drastically though. Just use some common sense and you'll have no issues.

Thanks for the advise fellas, I have her packed pretty full. Such a pretty site. I took a pic, will post soon. Kept the plastic on the ones that came that way. Picked me up (10) C4, (10) TNT, (10) tatuaje-lesprit-de-verite-2009, (5) VOR 11'. Make that 9 tatuaje as I am smoking one as I type this,,, and it is a fine one. Can't wait to see how these age. Still have two TNT's from last year that will be smoked on the 4th.

Thanks to Mark at Tower for saving me some of the limited Viaje and recommending the Verite.

Don't sweat it. You'll be looking into Igloo'dors and Wine Coolers here pretty soon anway.

Seriously, don't worry about moving things around. People buy full boxes to put down for YEARS without ever cracking the seal on the box. Those smokes are most likely more crammed together than anything you have in your humidor.

Don't sweat the little things and enjoy the ride!

The cello, no cello thing has been up for debates for ages. Personally, I take them out. My humidor is only a 200 count with a decorative glass top. I show off my cigars and the cello looks ugly.

That being sad, once I start to grow my collection and I have more in storage, I'll leave them in for protection

Sometimes the cello can damage other sticks next to them without cello if the open end isn't tight against the cigar.

So what's considered a nominal time for cigar rotation, once a year?

:dunno:

I don't rotate my smokes. If I have some reason to mess with them, like I just got drawers for my wine cooler, or I have new smokes to add and have to play tetris, they get moved around. Otherwise...don't know why I would mess with them. Don't see the need.
