In Los Angeles, they are shutting down the 405 this weekend. The 405 is one of the busiest freeways in the U.S. It will be shut down July 16 and 17.

This video clearly shows many Angeleno's frustrations

You cannot stand in the way of progress! Just goes to show how horrible our mass transit systems are in california where taking the bus or metro isn't even an option.

There is a bridge over the freeway they need to demo
There are always other options. They can portable brace the bridge in the center of the freeway and demo one side at a time. That way you can put the movable cement barriers splitting each side into 2 directions of traffic. That way you can still have the highway open, just half the lanes. There is always a better option, apparently they just want the fast method but it will really hurt the civilians trying to drive anywhere but it will save California money.

There is a time crunch to complete the expansion of the 405 freeway and the shut down will save months or at least that is what they are saying. There is a lot more going on than just the bridge.
