Heh, no, the one Cohiba still intact is in its own quarantine-humidor (small tupperware box). I'm actually looking forward more to that Don Sebastian I got along with it.

One question - when you say "kitty litter", are you referring to actuall kitty litter?

As far as the linked humidor is concerned, from what I can see in the specs, it comes with a hygrometer, albeit not a digital one, and some sort of humidifier.

Right now, I'm still using a tupperware container, only the humidifier is different - instead of the sponge (as high as Sardenians may regard it) I'm using salt. I've read somewhere that when you mix a bit of water with salt (just enough to get a thick paste), it'll result in a 75 % humidity. Close enough for a zero-cost device.

Yes, actual kitty litter. You buy the unscented kind and it works like real humidity beads.

If you are dead set on an inexpensive humidor, the glass tops on them often don't seal very well. Probably a better bet to go with an all wood one. Also, the 'humidifier' that comes with those humidors is probably a foam puck. I don't think they are worth the hassle or the money when there are so many better options out there.

The best bang for your buck is probably tupperware and a real humidification device. Humidity packs work well and can be recharged. IMO save yourself a lot of trouble and stick to tupperware or a igloo type cooler.

Nothing much is going on, really. The kitchen salt (NaCl) and water (H2O) paste mixture seem to be doing a very good job at humidifying the Benito, so basically, I'm perfectly satisfied with the current tupperware humidor.

I do still have one question, though - what's the deal with the spanish cedar? From what I read around the internet, it seems to be a big thing. Moreover, it's the only component that separates the Benito from a commercially avaliable humidor (since I've got the sealing and humidification figured out). I know it's supposed to stabilize the level of humidity inside the box, but the boveda beads should take care of that (once I actually buy them). Is there anything else?

Oh, one more thing. Out of curiosity - how do you know the Cohibas are fake?
