Just curious on everyone's opinion. I have heard a lot of opinions...more than three years?, five?, ten?

Or if it smokes good then it smokes good?

I have my own. But nothing better than finding that forgotten box of something special in the corner of the top shelf of a local B&M.

Happens to infrequently.

At one of the local B&Ms I go to they have had the same cigars sitting on the shelf since I started going in there at age 18.

I'm 25 now.

I think it's the fact that they're a little overpriced and they don't know what they're doing.

For instance, they have Al Capones sitting in the humidor but they have all of the small tinned cigars (Cohiba Pequenos, Cao Brazillia Caracos, Ashton Esquires, etc) just sitting out on a stand.

In my opinion I think that they can be vintage straight from the factory considering how long some of the companies age them for.

IMO...

0-6 months = "stored"
6 months - 5 years = "rested"
5-50 years = "aged"
50+ years = "vintage"
I like this break out. 50 seems a little long to be "vintage" for me. To each their own, certainly, but I'd qualify vintage at something younger... if there is a distinction between aged and vintage, I put that line at 20. anything less than 5 years is not aged the way I view things.

I think for me that "pre-embargo" comes to mind when I hear the term "vintage", hence the 50 year mark I gave(which is obviously is IMO). But I will say, I think 20+ years wouldn't bother me so much if someone said "vintage" but it does when someone says "aged 6 months". That and being almost 40 years old myself I am not quite ready to consider myself vintage just yet.... now Bob, yeah... he's vintage. :applause:

Good responses keep em coming. Damn I'm approaching Vintage. Will have to remind my wife that she's lucky to have "Vintage"

I think I'd break it down according to what I'd say the sticks are doing at any particular time:

0-1 years = Acclimating/Resting
1+ = Aging

Using the word "Vintage" to describe something makes me think that it was produced in a particularly notable period and/or under conditions that made for an exceptionally good product.
