I found (and bought) this device at Home Depot yesterday. I can't take and upload any photos right now, but when I get home I will.
Anyway, it's a meter to measure moisture in various settings. Hardwood, softwood and masonry are modes that you can select. You hold the meter to the target and get a percentage reading of moisture immediately. The intended purpose is to detect moisture in wood that would lend itself to mold growth.
I tried it on my cigars with the "wall" setting and get around 65 to 72 percent.
This is a great idea, if it is working properly, because a hygrometer will tell you what your RH is in the humidor but not specifically what it is in each box and each cigar. In addition to which, (and I'm not going to go into depth right now on this topic) but there is a difference between RH and Absolute Humidity AH. This device may be helpful in determining the RH and AH of each cigar.
Anyway, let me know if you have used something like this and what you think. I think this is an awesome product.
