Been using linux from scratch for about five years. Before that I was a gentoo user and before THAT I used slackware for several years.

I have a dual boot laptop with Ubuntu and Windows 7... can't get away due to things that I need to prepare in Windows. But overall, I like Linux a lot.

what do you need to prepare in windows?
Compile code... to make sure it works in the Windows environment... small utilities for work that makes my job easier. I'll usually write it Linux using vi. Also presentations. You can make it Linux and run in Windows, but you don't want to be in front of people and find out that your Powerpoint presentation looks like crap. Now that I think about it, I also use Photoshop a bit in Windows... I go back and forth frequently.

No... think it's like a abstraction layer... For some of the critical things that I have to do, I can't risk issues when code is deployed into a production environment. The business run on Windows... I need to know what is created absolutely works in that environment... need to try it though some time. Thank you for bringing it up.

I run 2 UNIX servers at work. Love em as they are steady as a rock. I've used several different linux releases at home and loved it. I never could get wine to be consistent so I had to dump linux at home to bring family peace lol.
