"Fifty" is the key word in evaluating, with the help of designated smokers, unbiased surveys and professional opinions-- which cigars are finally chosen for the year to be in this distinguished list of fifty.

I call bullshit. There's no way many of those smokes make a top 50 list. CA does a better job with their top 25, maybe they should have consulted them...or a cigar forum...or a cigar smoker instead of their cousin Fred who sure does enjoy himself a cigar and oh yeah that Puros Indios is a great smoke...

would be cool to do a BOTL.org generated top 50

imagine... a list of 1,000+ cigars, open voting for 3 months or 6 months. each member gets 50 votes. votes are aggregated by stick and the stick with the most votes gets #1, second most votes gets #2.

I bet it varies forum to forum as well... BOTL.org probably has 5+ Tats in Top 10, while ICC/FOH has 5+ CCs in Top 10. cA probably has at least 3 Padron Annys/Family in Top 10.

I could kind of imagine the outcome, but it would be really cool to see it done. Might have to be a top 100 though... too many good sticks out there.

I just bombed Justin (TravelingJ) and it had a Cusan 10th Anniversary, which is on the list… I feel better about my bomb now. The mysterious “Assassin” will be glad to see the La Perla Habana… maybe this is a clue to determine his identity. I don’t see any Tatuaje sticks… It’s time for BOTL to create its own list of top 50 cigars.

As a newbie I would love to see this a REAL list of top 50 or 100 (even better) Made by the people that matter REAL people that actually pay their hard earned money to purchase the things

Even the whois info is muddled...

As with all "Top" lists, it is all subjective... could be two kids in the basement of the science building for all we know... ;)

First of all a list of best 50 cigars is ridiculous to start with because everyone has different tastes that are ever changing. Also havent tried counting but wondering if I've even smoked 50 different cigars in my 2+ yrs of smoking, sure some of the fogs here have but I guess probably have tried 30 or so. These lists are made by industry people to help the sales rep sell cigars to retailers nothing more.

So... what is the best cigar?

I haven't smoked it, searching for it is one of the things that make this hobby so enjoyable.

Completely agree. Their is almost always a cigar that tops your previous experience with what you thought was the best cigar at the moment. At least for me!

Just reading over the responces to this thread. First of all I don't care what anybody say's but a Tat Cojonu 03 should be in the top 5 IMHO.
I love the idea of BOTL creating a "Top Cigar" list. I think this would be very interesting however I think it would be very hard to create as there are just so many cigar makers and lines in the market today. I'm not sure how this could be done without creating way to much work and research. Beside I know I've seen the "What is your top 5 cigars" posted about a dozen times since I've been a member. Noobs should check thoes threads for a good reference.

If everyone on botl was to post their top 50 list I think many would be surprised as to how many from those lists were on the one in the article. We have our specific makers that are very popular with most on here but there are many more out there that people love and smoke. Hate to say it but I am also a bit of a cigar snob but quite a few new members have posted love for Gurkha only to be chased away for not smoking worthy cigars. That list would not be my top 50 cigars but i am pretty sure every one will have a few of thiers on that list and they will not aways be the same. Posted via Mobile Device
