It's actually made a slight change for the better. Here in SE VA we are just starting to see the tropical storm winds and rain is not too bad considering. Slightly above normal high tide this morning. The eye should pass by us a few hours before high tide(9PM tonight) and the storm surge predictions have gone down, which is great news.

Here in King George it's been raining since 9 this morning, but it's just now starting to blow hard. Got a lot of big trees behind the house... starting to get a little nervous.

(King George is about 50 miles straight south of DC.)

Been raining here in Philadelphia for an hour or two, nothing too crazy, yet.

I saw on the news a child was killed in VA when a tree blew through a window. Saddening, for sure.

I just hope my wife and cats are going to be okay. I'm going to be stuck in ATL because they cancelled my flight back home. Thank you for the good wishes though!

Just a light rain so far in NYC. We're just about done with our storm prep. Brought the patio furniture in, got up on the roof to clear out the downspout, turned the freezer up to max, and picked up some beer. As long as the trees don't blow over I think we're in good shape now.

Fill jugs with water and freeze them too. If no electricity it will keep food cold longer. If no water, can use to drink. Fill washbasins with water too so you can pour buckets in the toilet to flush.

In addition to Fia's great advice, fill up all your coolers and other large containers with water. Make sure you have fresh batteries, gas in your car(s), plenty of canned goods, candles for light, and toilet paper. Tape your large picture windows with a large X from corner to corner.

Take care brothers and sisters and stay safe!

I woke up to patio furniture that is not mine on what used to be my patio (currently in deconstruction/rebuild) and one little ugly privacy fence was blown over. Other than that everything that would have happened I think happened in other storms.

Well guys I been in DC for 2 days working with FEMA (aircraft transport & rescue) We have lots of assets ready to deploy , Later this morning we will find out more info when the aircraft can get up and fly to see and assist locals cities, counties and states.....Here in DC on the SE side Rain all nite, steady wind in the low teens, lots of street flooding, down trees, Metro & Buses are running, but could be shut-done at any time. The biggest impact so far is major power outage.....All the states on the east coast from NC - NH are doing amazingly well for what they have to deal with..... Good Luck to all that had to evacuate/relocate, ........

At least I can have a cigar today without fighting wind and rain ......(I was getting a lil grumpy yesterday)
