ok not really a grab at our guns, but i got your attn:

We defeated this once, and the wonderful leaders of California have changed it and are trying at this again.

Basically it says that all airguns have to be clear or brightly painted. This makes sure that cops don't shoot a kid who has an airsoft or bb gun.

1st thing I see wrong is that my .22 caliber airgun does 1000fps, and is NOT a toy. this same gun has killed a deer. Of course that was due to aguy shooting at a deer in his garden to get it away. the pellet punctured a lung and the deer died days later. so now it it not a deer rifle, but it is not to be considered toy. it could feasibly go through you eye, and into you brain. But yeah paint it ornge and it's a toy.

2nd is the new bill allows for cities and couties to make thier own rules. so I could be fine where I live and go to a buddies house 10 miles away and be committing a felony.

No matter the rerason it is just another stepping stone to the gun grab. Take a few minutes a sign this petition.

think gun owners too busy making sure they don't take the real deal, true this is just the first step in california politicians trying to take our guns but right now think thier are bigger fish to fry. Like the current lawsuit the NRA filed against the obama administration.

thanks for the response postal.

nobody here ha spent there week working on that lawsuit. This takes 3 minutes and you don't have to fry any fish. let enough of these kind of bs laws pass and the big fish you are talking about will be the next easy step for the gun haters. yeah i get iot it's only a bb gun right, well you'll be pissed next time you want one and it bright friggin orange. whatever, viewed 86 times and one response. assuming only gun people look at this forum, that is friggin weak. you don't have to be in ca to sign this petition. make your nra payments and let them do the work. just sayin

Forgive me for being naive, but when you say "airgun" you mean pellet gun, right? Because when I think of "orange tip, clear body" I think of airsoft gun. Those pellet guns that break at the barrel and shoot upwards of 1,200+ fps are basically hunting firearms. How could you make them clear and orange tipped?

This bill is specifically going to affect pellet and BB guns?

EDIT: I signed it, but I'm not a resident of CA. Allowing gun laws like that to be different based on the county are really stupid. Here in NC you can drive through the state and be legal then illegal multiple times if you've got your concealed gun on you.

Sorry i never responded to this, but the answer to the original question is YES. They are talking about orange tipped hunting rifles. I have a .22 that shoots 850 FPS and with a heavy pellet can carry 58 lbs of energy. Enough to kill a coyote or hog. No joke. my .177 will go thru your hand at 75 yards. Of course paint the tip orange and everyone thinks it's a toy. Dead hog = no toy, wouldn't you say? And yeah county to county laws are just stupid.

Wow, interesting that for some the definition of freedom is to carry guns which have one purpose, to kill!

Saying that guns are just for killing people is like saying smoking cigars is just for getting cancer. I am a hunter so I use my guns for that. Also if someone threatens me or my friends/family with deadly force I will want to have a gun to protect myself. The guns also protect our freedoms as it is hard for a pure tyrrany to take over an armed population. It is built into our constitution and a basic part of our rights. So yes owning a gun means freedom.

I can say this, after visiting US for a month, if I lived there I would own some sort of weapon...something for target practice and something for protection!

But I would want this to be in a civilized manner, to make sure people who can't hande them are not allowed to touch one. For example you have to be able to see and hear to drive...you should be able to say if you want to own a weapon that is made to kill....you should be able too se your target!

Also if you have a criminal history I don't think one should be able to own guns! Not for speeding but for example violent crimes.

I can say this, I can bet my life that in countries that have proper laws to make sure the right people own guns people are less likely to get shot/killed.

google US gun laws, you are not far off. :assaultri

As for strict gun laws, just look at the UK or Japan, the only people that own guns are the government and criminals. Both of whom you should be able to protect yourself from.

I will not comment on Africa, we all know that many areas are run by thugs and quasi governments. It can hardly be compared to the US.

p.s. I always find it interesting how people outside of the US fail to educate themselves on the US, but yet pass judgment and then call Americans the ignorant ones...I may never understand. Cheers, and I hope we can keep this pleasant.

Take a look at what happened when guns were outlawed in Britain, crime rates sky rocketed. An armed population is a polite population.

We are not an armed population, and not one police killed here per year! That's pretty polite! :)
