A little discussion in Chat brought this up?

What do you use?

Standard that came with your MP3 player/Ipod/walkman :boxing:

Or did you splurge and get a better set?
What do you think of the better set if you did get one.

I never use the junk ones they include with the devices, they always suck.

I sprung for 2 pairs of the bose in-ear ones ($109), and they were super comfortable BUT the cables seem to have been cheaply made as on both pairs they eventually frayed at the point where they connected to the actual earbud.

Nowadays I just buy the $25ish skull candy style stuff.

Westone One.

Midrange cost. Excellent quality. I believe you can change the wires also. I dropped it on the lawn at my parent's house in Toronto in November of 09 and found it in April after all the snow melted. Worked beautifully since.

Headphones are my other hobby.

My normal walk around buds are Shure SE535s (above) for the iPhone.

Have owned a lot of stuff over the years. At some point it becomes a game of diminishing returns. Particularly when you have got six-driver JH stuff. My favorite of all-time, not necessarily the best sounding, was the Shure e5, such a great IEM.

Have a pair of ES5s on order.

enough before this turns into head-fi.

I have the exact same headphones! I love them!! I even have a mini-amp I run though out of the line out from the bottom of my iPod to really drive the Shure's. They sound incredible when they've got some real power behind them. I had the E5c's too, those were great too, but the cords sucked.

I was a big fan of my e3s, buy they finally gave up the ghost.. With too many hobbies, I decides to forgo a new pair of shures and opted for set of Zagg buds. Not too bad for a 50.00 set, and I caught a half price sale to boot!

I've got a pair of JH Audio's. They're sound pretty damn good I might add - audiophile quality. As mentioned above though, they're definitely not cheap. I use their aviation line which are no longer in production and had a separate earpiece made without the microphone to be used for listening to music. Jerry's a good guy and definitely knows his market though.

Regards,
Randy

Loved E3 also. Have the zaggs but I prefer the cord around ear design.

I use Sennheiser PX100 on-ear phones with Pandora and my netbook. They sound great but they don't make them anymore. Also use the Total Bithead usb DAC. Nice sound

Had some by skull candy, they sucked... but for the price who can complain? Bought a pair of Bose, had them replaced twice because the way they designed and built their chords is pure garbage. Was looking for a new pair when I got a set of the Bose ones again for free... I'll stick with them until these die. They're comfy and stay in my ears, so that's nice.

As far as earbuds, I've tried them all: Shure, Bose, AT, etc.

I use these and love them:

http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6i.aspx

They are deep in-ear phones, so if you don't like things in your hears (like those foam earplugs, etc), they you won't like these. I find them comfortable (may take a bit of getting used to for some), and they have the best sound-isolation I've ever had outside of the active sound-dampening cans (like aviators use, which Bose tried to copy.) Sound quality is excellent. Just don't go running on a busy street with these!

For full cans, I have a pair of these: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CMS0XU"]Amazon.com: Audio Technica ATH-AD700 Open-air Dynamic Audiophile Headphones: Electronics@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41AO8oIX5wL.@@AMEPARAM@@41AO8oIX5wL[/ame] which I think are great open-cans with good sound, excellent comfort, and for the price they are by far the best I've heard. You can get better sounding headphones, but it will cost you over $200.

I also have these: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SE-DIR800C-Headphones-Headphone-Technology/dp/B0007XL43M/ref=sr_1_45?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1315873746&sr=1-45"]Amazon.com: Pioneer SE-DIR800C Wireless Headphones with Dolby Headphone Technology: Electronics@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51uGxQadS9L.@@AMEPARAM@@51uGxQadS9L[/ame]
Which are great for wireless phones.
