SurpriseMVP's thread about heaters got me thinking. How many of you smoke inside? I currently live in a small apartment so I wouldn't have any interest in doing it but down the road when I own a house I'd like to install a ventilation system in my office so I don't always have to go outside to light up (rainy days, cold days, etc.).

Once winter rolls around I may have to start visiting my B&M more often. The one within walking distance (Cutters) is more of a bar and charges a cutting fee so I don't really hang out there much except special occasions with friends

I have heaters in my garage for winter time.... good news is we don't have killer winters. I also hit up my B&M more often in the winter months!

I do 95% of my smoking within a climate controlled environment. If I'm not comfortable smoking, what's the point? I've never used any special ventilation. In the house or RV I just crack a window, and put a small fan there to exhaust the smoke. Sometimes I even remember to turn the fan on.

Smoking indoors is a definate no go for me. Even with the best ventilation system I would never smoke in my house. We dont have children yet but cigar smoke is pretty long lasting and strong and in a house I think after time the smell would be there long after. hell, even when my buddy and I smoke in my garage it smells for days. just my .02

With a good/decent ventilation system and closed doors, does anyone have experience with the smoke getting throughout the rest of the house? If that happened, I'd be in big trouble with the lady of the house. I don't even go straight to bed after smoking without taking a shower

My neighbor and I built a smoking room on his house. We put a ceiling fan in, a high flow "bathroom exhaust fan" in the ceiling and also one at floor level near our smoking chairs.
Put the ceiling fan on low just to pull the smoke up and let the other two fans go to work. Key was getting the quietest exhaust fans you can. It worked really well and people would sit with us when we smoked cigars (daily). The drapes picked up some odor as did the other cloth covered furniture. We had two reclining leather chairs for he and I so they were fine.
Febreeze is your friend as is odor eater candles, oil lamps etc...we'd burn one after smoking to help freshen it up.

I don't know. Maybe my cigars are just different than what you guys smoke. We light a lampe berger after maybe a week of smoking in there each night, and you don't smell anything. I can't notice stale smoke the next day. The ONLY time I get that, is if I finish smoking in the truck, drop it in the bobken, and roll up the windows tight for the night the minute I finish smoking. My mom is super sensitive to smoke, and doesn't have any problems coming over to our place.

The only thing special I had to do, was weather seal the closet in the RV, and I don't get any complaints for smoking in anything I own.

You might just smoke super non smelling cigars j, or lost your sense of smell. I'm in the shed in the winter with heaters and a exhaust fan, works for me and still smells like smoke the next day.

Lol. Not only do I have to shower before coming to bed, I also have to leave my shirt on the garage. I have to admit the shirt did stink up the closet. If you build a smoke room it has to be on its own hvac system so it won't circulate around the house. A buddy of mine has a condo with concrete floors and not much else. He smokes inside and you can smell his apartment down the hall when I go there. I personally like it but my wife would kill me.

Fun Facts: In the city of Glendale, CA it is illegal to smoke indoors in your own home, if your home shares a wall with a neighbor. This is what happens when the Democrats take over.

Reminds me of my coworker. She's called her apartment manager daily for the past two weeks because the people below her now smoke in their bathroom with the exhaust fan on. It blows right up into her apartment

Do you also vent it after you finish smoking? I think that's the key. I leave my truck window down for a while, and leave lodging windows open for a few hours as well. I really think that's what help kills the staleness.

I've thought about it - would be nice for the summer. I have a man cave with its own hvac system so it wouldn't impact the rest of the house, especially if on top of that I was cautious about venting/exhaust and odor eating (ie febreeze and rabbit air).

still undecided.

My Lady would have my balls if I did! Now once one of the kids moves out, I am sealing off their room, putting in a big smoke eater, and puffing away!

A couple of our guys have built rooms where they have (excuse my complete lack of building knowledge) made thicker walls and used filters and separate ventilation in most cases. Most are either converted John Deere rooms or garages so they were already a bit "apart" Some also went to a shed type area.

At home, I don't smoke indoors. I'm completely spoiled though since I am at a smoking shop (when it's legal to smoke here) 16 hours a day. Even after close you can often find some of us sitting around watching a movie enjoying a cigar and beer or martini or...
