That's highway robbery. There are 19 cigars in that jar, so you're paying $21.05 per stick at the current asking bid. It will likely go higher... just saying. I think they retailed at around $11 to $12 per stick.

FireDoc and I had an unbelievable find where we got the jar and the cigars for about $221, which was amazingly below retail... this was about 4 weeks ago during our trip in WI which I posted.

I merely trying to put this into perspective folks... not trying to brag or discourage purchasing it. At any rate, I would hate to see someone get fleeced unknowingly.

Oh and you are technically buying collector bands... in a jar with a green one as a bonus.

I've seen these go for considerably more than this...

Don't let the price you guys' got (a ridiculously good find it sounds like) lead you to believe anything above is extraordinary.

Would I buy it? Not a chance. If I was looking for one though.....this isn't the worst deal I've seen by any stretch.

Edit: Just realized the $400 was the "starting bid" .... If in the market for this, that's about as high as I'd be willing to go.

John,
Sam and Mike were selling these at Casa somewhere around 17 or 18 I belive a year ago. 20 is not to far off but a little high priced yes. Would I buy em? For 9 bucks maybe and 30 for the jar:)

$400 is cheaper than 99% of the prices I have seen in the last 2+ years of me being on BOTL. I saw a couple go around $375 a long time ago, but most have been around $450 - $475.

Nothing too surprising here... black jar CG's are rare and they're phenomenal smokes. What I am amused at is the fact that he is including only the band of the tat frank. I would not really be happy if I just owned the stupid little band and never smoked the cigar itself.

In case you have not seen these before on ebay, you have to sell the band as selling tobacco products is illegal there. All of this is sold as 'collectables'. Also, on the going price right now, pretty much fair market for these.

Yes... that's what I was trying to say but in a more vague fashion earlier. I've purchased "collectable bands" on the ebay in the past. I recommend doing your research before buying cigars on the ebay. You need to know the source... although you're really not addressing that topic, I wanted to throw that in. My experience was OK but I had a friend that didn't have as much luck.

HA! Pretty epic fail on my part... thanks for the explanation. :tiphat: I never have been interested to look on the 'bay for smokes so I was clueless!

I'd have to see proof actual cigars are inside said jar and my fank is more than just a band. Cause I have a feeling someone is going to purchase a $400+ empty jar if not careful.

Hey J, from my recollection, they were in the $15-16 range MSRP. I"ve seen the full jars go for well over $500 in the secondary market. The original bundles before the jars were better than the jar CG's and the jar CG's were better than IMO anything that Pete's come out with to date. Look at Padron Milleniums. I think they were somewhere in the $25 range when they were out and now try to find one less than $75 per stick. Crazy yes but its all about supply and demand.....

hmmm I'm off today, maybe start it off with a black robusto :) G1
