Was looking for an app that keeps track of the cigars I have in my humi, so I know what not to pick up next time I go to a B&M... What do you suggest?

Just an Excel spreadsheet. I don't do it so much to know what 'not to buy' but I have a buddy that babysits some of my cigars, and we both like to keep tabs on what is where.

That is a great idea, never thought of that. I seem to have a TON of sticks now and never know what to get/try, esp. with all the bombs going off!

carguy I am stalking you!

I don't keep track of what I have. I have an odd brain that tends to remember everything. I have 5 humidors but if you move or touch my cigars I will know the instance I open it. Probably from my OCD and need for everything to be in order.

I started something like this when I first started smoking cigars. It quickly became more trouble then it was worth. I found myself forgetting to remove cigars from the list that I smoked, and everything went way out of wack.

Tried Excel but that because to much of a pain to maintain. Downloaded myhumidor for the iPod but I decided it was junk.

I guess for now I just try to remember. if I buy a duplicate of something no big deal.

Well, I've been called a spreadsheet nerd... But I had a spreadsheet for a long time with inventory, and would fill in my notes when I did smoke one. At some point, I liberated myself. So, I don't keep any track at all, now. Sometimes I still go through withdrawal, and think about starting it, again... but I don't think I will.

Yup. Too much BS to worry about. I have an OK idea of what I have in the cooler all in my head. That's all I really need. :dunno:

I went through the same thing with my wine collection which made me not even try with cigars. Literally hundreds of bottles of wine and thousands of cigars, I tried cataloging my collections, but I would have smoked/drank dozens and acquired dozens more before I even had a 1/4 of the collection cataloged. I find my brain to a much better job remembering what single/bottle gems I have left and approximately how many I have left of favorites in a box, cabinet, or case when it comes to wine/booze.

I thought about this but decided against it. I kind of enjoy rummaging around in the humi to see what I want to smoke. I keep special sticks (64 padrons, liga privadas etc..) in a special section but other than that it's just random.

I do the same.

I have 4 humidors and keep them stocked. I like to sift through them from time to time and find some gem that I forgot about years ago.

I just ask my friends when they come over, for some odd reason they always seem to know what I have. :dunno:

A very good idea, I have one of my humidors organized so that there's a section of "unsmokeable" cigars (super rare/expensive/super limited/out of production) and at this point thankfully all my friends I smoke with understand everything in there is off limits.

I didn't have a list as I could remember pretty much what I had. When I got over 500 cigars, it was more difficult, so I made a list in excel. It was fun making the list as I could add more info like year made, who from, etc. I discovered I actually had over 800 cigars. I'm still keeping the list up to date and keep it in two places so I can update as I have time. Now, it is harder for me to remember exactly what I have, since I don't have to. I figure I'll still loose track of a few sticks, but so what. Vacations and herfs can be a little tough with grabbing a bunch of sticks and not always smoking them all. I just delete them from the list when I take them and store the ones I don't smoke in my smoke now box and smoke them after I return from vacation/herf.

I have tried several times to keep a written record and for me not worth the trouble. Cause once you start one you have to keep it up for every purchase/addition/subtraction you make to your stash. I just devised a sorting system for my humis, the cooler is for boxes/unopended bundles, my 50ct is for my ultrapremiums/special occasion sticks and i have a 200ct humi with drawers that each hold a different catagory. Favorites in one, sticks to try in another, and so on.
If your worried about buying something you already have, i keep a short list of stuff I want to pick up next time i buy. and when i buy it cross off the list. this way i know I'm getting something i don't have or need to pick up.

Wouldn't you like to know?
I guess if you have enough cigars to bother making a list you have too many. I find it is easier to just store less and smoke them often enough to remind yourself of the hassles that a tight inventory would cause.

I am no shop...inventory seems like a chore. What about the smokes that I grab after too many beers and forget.

Yep it would never work. For me it is, if there is space...look for a box, if not enjoy what i have.

Best of luck, and if you enjoy this as part of your hobby that is great also.
