I just read that Moore and Bode will soon begin cigar making in Mumbai,India. I'm quite shocked by this, not sure why as Asia has been manufacturing and giving service's for so many other business'. Unless I'm unaware, it is an interesting precedent. Premium cigars that the Americans have enjoyed have been almost exclusively made in Latin American countries with great tradition and pride. I'm curious to hear the impressions.

something in me just couldn't smoke cigars from India. I would think they would be infused shisha tasting crap.
haha, good old fashioned racism :squinteye

...but in all seriousness, is this to make the production cheaper? And, in turn, will result in lower quality?

Considering Shisha is widely used in India, I would not call this racism at all. I would call it a sterotype, which exist because the mjoirty of the time they are accurate. Now had he said "I would not smoke a cigar from india because they don't wash thier hands after they take a deuce, and their chit smells worse than any other" well that would be racist.

Don't forget there is a place called Sumatra that isn't that far from India. There are probably some nice places to grow tobacco and for me it would be interesting to try.

Plus India isn't some dinky 3rd world country. They have large companies now like Tata motors that owns Jaguar/Land Rover.

That's what people said about plans to roll cigars in the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua when the Cuban embargo started.

But look at us now.

Having been to both Latin American & India. India wins the biggest shit-hole contest hands down.

Cheaper labor I'm guessing wouldn't make much sense otherwise considering India doesn't have much of a cigar culture and the tobacco grown is fairly poor in quality.

I believe the wiping shit with their hand comments might actually be right. I feel like I heard somewhere they wipe with their left bc they eat with their right. Don't hold me to that though...

I had to take an online afghani culture course before I got over here. They definitely wipe there poop with there left hand. In fact, it's considered extremely rude to raise your left hand to someone.

Now india on the the other hand, they wipe there but with water. That is to say, in teh absences of a bidday, they will take a water bottle and i figure they jsut shake it around their ass hole. I've not actually taken the time to watch the process. But it stands to reason that some of that water running off their ass, must run on their hands too. and they don't wash their hands afterwards. Plus, they dont' shower every day, even though they have the ability to. On the OFF days they run some water over the bottom parts of their legs and call themselves clean. Needless to say, they are a stinky people. BO on steroids. I'm guessing some of them are one a 3 day shower rotation.

I know all this because there are about 10,000 of them over here working. To be as non-racist as humanly possible, they are, in short, a disgusting people from a personal hygiene standpoint. But they are extremely polite.

Back to the point...at least the cigars should only cost like $0.50 each!!!:grinFU:

Moore & Bode has traditionally been quite guarded about their blends, but, allegedly, a significant percentage of their tobacco comes from that region, some of it (supposedly) actually grown in India. How much exactly, I don't know. Now, if this is indeed accurate, from a business perspective, doesn't it make sense to roll the cigars near where the tobacco comes from? Everyone else does it...

Am I reading this wrong? Or did you just call almost 1.25 billion people on this planet polite but "disgusting ... from a personal hygiene standpoint" in a non-racist way?

Do they call them TCN's? Third Country Nationals is what they called em while I was in Bahrain.
Yep, TCNs and FNs (Foreign Nationals)

Not entirely correct. The few thousand that i've had the pleasure of coming in direct contact with are very polite, while their personal hygiene customs are completely foreign to my silver-spooned western cultural way of life, thus causing me discribe them as "disgusting from a personal hygiend standpoint"

Gotcha...

How you put it earlier could be construed as highly offensive; calling an entire race "in short, a disgusting people from a personal hygiene standpoint."

That's all I took issue with...
