What a weekend-Gatlinburg Tenn.

I'd never been even though I've lived 4 hours from it all my life.

Spent the weekend there for a family wedding, and it was an interesting experience to say the least. It reminded me of OD at Myrtle Beach. People driving back and forth on "the main drag" hooting hollering and honking.

Went to Clingmans dome and it was 26 degrees and if a cloud went buy it snowed. 35 mile per hour winds and I had on shorts.

Loved the area around the town but I doubt I'll be staying in the town again. Too much tourist stuff going on.

They have a small cigar store that I went to. Decent selection but a but pricey. Seemed to want to sell more pipes than anything else.

I visited there frequently when I hat to travel to TN for work. It was 30 min from where the company's main offices were. I loved the aquarium, and there was places to eat. The town where the headquarters were there was nothing at all to eat that was worth eating.

Love backpacking in GSMNP and always have to drive to Clingman's Dome and check out a sunset if possible. Sort of sad there now with all of the mature fir trees dead.

Gatlinburg is the antithesis of the park, with all of the gaudy tourist stuff. I've been in the little cigar store there once, the Gatlin-Burlier I think it's called...sticks were a little high, but I picked up some Fuentes anyway to enjoy around the fire.

Too touristy for me. I do love going there & just renting a cabin. Stay there & hide out without trying to go into town.

Did you hike to the top of Clingmans Dome?
Hiked to the top several years ago to the observation tower, tough hike and the weather was brutal.

No, it was way to cold and windy for that and we weren't dressed for it.

Wish it wasn't as I really wanted to.

Love it there! You should check out the hellbender grill. Great food, drinks, and live music.
