I really really want to resong to this but once again lets keep it to the topic! And since this is the HABANOS section no need to discuss ncs anymore!:cbig:

Yes I always decide what I should buy with boxcodes especially since I have good knowledge what factorys are good and when! But 09 and 10 I have no idea where to buy!
I have some friends that are very deep in the cc game and it is with their help I can pick boxes and pretty much all the serious retailers provide boxcode lists!

I could usually care less about boxcodes. I'd rather have my vendor open the box, check for quality & send the box to me if it's up to par. Ordering boxcodes used to matter when you could tell what factory they came from, but it doesn't matter so much.

Almost every Cuban brand has a counterpart made in another country. Can't compare them to the Cuban brands as they don't & don't claim to taste the same.

It stills does, The places I buy from does not send a box uncheked unless you request for the box not to be opened!

No offense meant but a lot of threads often go off topic. If you didn't want it off topic, then you should have never brought it off topic yourself. People have opinions and they will post them. It's just the beauty of the internet I guess :dunno:

I thought box codes a while back told you a lot more than they do today?

Boxcodes used to be important before they rotated the codes in every factory making it almost impossible to track unless you were in the factory seeing the boxes yourself. It was nice to get a code or ask about a code and find out what factory it was made in. Because quality at certain factories in the 90's to a couple years ago was lacking. Those boxes were sitting and not moving.

Wouldn't you like to know?
Can post pics tonight have had them in stock for a few weeks now. Not sure how Canada got the LE stuff quickly but still no behike's? I do know that at the very least the Trini short Robo's were rolled at the la corona factory. I don't think they were spread between multiple factories but I could be wrong.

The are fake Trinidad, it might be a very good cigar I dont know but you cant just steal a brands name and make it "real". There is a lot of politics behind this and the embargo makes sure the the Habanos Brands are not safe. If Cuba Tomorrow would start building a car and call it GM it wouldnt be a GM just because they say so! I understand where you are coming from but try to see it from another view, if I would start making a cigar and call it a Fuente it would be a fake Fuente! Not a Swedish Fuente but a fake!
I see where you are coming from Ben, but the use of the word FAKE is erroneous. The NC versions are not said to be Cuban, they are plainly labeled Dominican. The company that owns and distributes the NC Trinidad, RyJ, Choiba, etc…owns HALF of Habanos sa, so there is no stealing going on. Unless of course we’re talking about how an oppressive communist dictator came in and stole the land, farms, businesses and brand names from the people of Cuba. I would tend to agree that the Cuban counterparts are better cigars, but certainly with some quality control issues.

To me it's not the marquees/brands, it's the sizes. None of the sizes appeal to me. And I'm not going to buy a cigar just to say I have it. I'll let you guys gobble them up
Exactly how I feel as well.

That's why I'm bummed that those NHC/Tats areren't made in other sizes, or in a size that I'd want to buy.

Just wondering why you think boxcodes still matter?

Posted via Mobile Device
Because it is still just a matter of who you know! IF you like me have friends that have friends in Cuba that visit the factorys and can tell you who is making what when they matter! It is just a matter of being able to get the right info!

All of us here know guys that go to Cuba at various times of the year. So I still don't get your point besides saying "look at me, I have friends in high places."

Just finished my first Partagas Especiale EL...very much agree with Lilo's review in the other subforum. Very nice smoke, especially for a Feb '10 date.
