Hey BOTL,

As a new member and a novice cigar smoker, I want to know more about Cigar Events and which ones to go to, and which ones to avoid.

I turn 30 in 2014, and I want this year to be BIG!!! I know of Cigarfest and Cigarnival in PA and The Big Smoke in Las Vegas. Has anybody been to these events? What do you think? Worth going to? Worth staying away from? Are there any events worth going to?

I'm starting to pre-plan my 2014 event calender and any advice on these and other events would be greatly appreciated

Thanks guys!

I was part of a group that did the big smoke last year. Great food, drinks, cigar samples and its on the strip (the mirage), so anything you want is right there. You can't really go wrong with that plan!

Don't know if there are any spots left for Cigar Safaris, but I hear it's an amazing trip! And I hear ICPCR is also a grand time, I had a couple buddies who went this year and absolutely loved it.

Isn't ICPCR just for people in the industry? I don't think it's a public event
Right. This is one of the reasons I'm trying to find a way into the cigar industry.

Cigarfest in PA is much closer to home. The Big Smoke would be fun, but I really don't like the cost of it ($240 for a 3hr session) but it is Vegas so I guess you get what you pay for.

I can tell you we all walked away feeling like we got our money's worth. But the cigar safari would be crazy awesome if you can find an available slot!

Big Smoke is something you should do at least once. I would highly suggest Vegas so you could go to Casa Fuente as well but they do the Big Smoke in New York as well.

Cigarnival (Famous Smoke Shop...a company I've bought cigars from going back to when they had the storefront on West 39th Street in Manhattan) is awesome. This was my first year going to the event, and I don't think I want to miss any of the following years. It's that good...

I'll throw out a couple that you might find interesting. Other side of the country though.

Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival in Colorado

Crush and Roll West in central California. Cigars, wine and craft beers in a two day event for just $120.

I have been to the last 2 years cigarfest. They were a blast we have a group that goes and it keeps growing each year. Every year we meet new people and spend 4-5 days hanging out and hitting the events. I start planning for the next year right after. I came back with a few hundred cigars I need to smoke more if I ever hope to have room for next years batch.

I am personally considering attending Big Smoke in NYC this year. It's a steep price tag for a few hours, but I have heard good things. My only hesitation at this point is finding a fellow brother to attend with me.

Additionally, Cigar Safari is going to be something I do sometime in the next couple years. I have read so much about it, been entranced by those videos on YouTube and have been just blown away with what I have seen and read. Definitely on my must do list.

I was thinking about Big Smoke NYC......But I really don't want to pay that price tag, then still have to get a hotel room and everything

It's basically local for me...train ride in to the city and home. The hotel price would take it off the table for me as well unless I was planning a vacation around it.

Is there anything going on in the Raleigh area over the next few months? I lived down there for 6yrs, my daughter goes to NC State and I still have a ton of friends and family local there...would like a cigar friendly excuse to visit.
