Sorry, nothing but enablers here. As long as it's fiscally responsible there is no reason you shouldn't pick up a box of smokes you know you enjoy. Don't forget to check with our site sponsors, Famous Smoke and Small Batch because the code BOTL will get you 17% off at Famous and 10% off at Small Batch.

BTW, Corona Viva is the best size Undercrown. (y)
Does that work with all product? I once went in for a box of Liga #9's with a coupon, and was denied use of my coupon on "that" product. I ended up saving more via Cigar Auctioneer, but it was a bit disappointing.

As to the issue of box buying. I wonder about the history of cigar buying, and if buying a box was ever the norm.

I wonder because, as long as I have been smoking cigars, buying by the box was a "cigarette smokers" mentality. Every cigar smoker I knew, short of those who bought themselves huge humidors and had tons of friends, would go for a variety of 5ers over a box. Heck, a simple search of this forum would find that the majority of Brothers stating variety was the spice of life and that they would buy 5's or 10's over a 20-25 count box.

Maybe I am way off the mark here? But was buying a box ever the norm?

If you can afford a box of T52 I say buy them. If you end up not liking them down the road I can just PM you my addy and you can send em to me for disposal ;).... I am gonna ask a real dumb question here but do you have Humi space for the box to age AND for all the other 5ers you are gonna buy along the way?
I have bought ohhh about 20+ boxes blind myself in the last 9 months of smoking cigars. Some were KILLER some uhhh not so much but hay you gotta buy em when they are available right? ha ha ha ha :bag:

Good luck along the way my BOTL venture FAR onto the slippery slope of box buying...LOL

Cheers

Box buying is in no doubt the cheapest way per stick. If you are thinking of a box buy from any of the major players. Drew Estates, Tatuaje, Don Pepin Garcia, Arturo Feunte, Viaje, etc. Not only would you be buying quality sticks, some of which smoke better with a little age. But as others mentioned, you would have no issues selling them off if your flavor profile preference changes.
Now buying a box of less popular sticks, you may find yourself with a bunch of sticks with very little resale value.
Based on the choices of sticks you mention. Id say go for it, you really have nothing to lose if your preference changes.

I too would echo earlier sentiment here, buying a box early on May or may not work out well, it's a gamble as you may not feel the same in 6-12 months

Though what you're looking at would be easy to resale if you change your mind, personally I'd recommend another 5pack of each and see if you still feel the same way I think it would be hard to go wrong with any of those as I have a box of the uc cv just sitting

Ci had a sale that you got the uc cv for 100$ and another 15 run of the mill drew estates for another 15$ at one point no9s and t52s rarely go on sale iirc

I'm still sitting on cigars that I regret/tastes changed, the troops got a sizeable donation on more than one occasion just remember there will always be more of them

I wouldn't buy a box of Undercrowns for the simple fact that Cigar Monster has fivers up at better than box prices. You can combine that with the botlorg code and get a hell of deal. If memory serves it ends up being around $4 or less per stick. You can also pick up a couple other fivers while you are up there to try out.

However, if you go with the No.9's (a fav of mine) or T52s I doubt you'll run into getting sick of them down the road. And you can always sell them as well. Famous lets you grab a box of robos for $225 after the coupon code which is as solid a price as you will find around. Let us know what you decide!

How many of each of these cigars have you smoked? If you've smoked, say five or so, of a particular brand and vitola over a few months and still really like them; you're probably safe for a box buy. Particularly the ones you've named. Not sure I've ever met anyone that doesn't like Undercrowns. Even if they're not raving fans of them, they're certainly smokable. And you can get them for about a hundy a box (after promos, etc.). Can't really get hurt there.
I've had 4 or 5 of both the liga 9's and t52's and I can say, it is indeed love. The undercrowns Ive actually on had two of my 5 pack so far. But the liga track record speaks volumes. I'm sure they will on get better with some rest. As it is now. It is difficult to let any of my favorites get any rest in the humi. They are usually gone in a couple weeks.

I know lol. the prices after discount is tempting me even further. Every sponsor has a box of Ligas in their carts waiting for me to come back. And thanks for the cigar monster tip.

I'm pretty much a one a day smoker. Or every other day. Weekends I could burn two or three depending on my mood and what I'm doing.
Smoking that many sticks, you will have no problem rotating those sticks with others even if you get bored of them one month, they'll get smoked eventually. Even if you don't like them, which I doubt will ever be the case, you can BOMB them out or trade them or sell them.. The only reason I would've deterred you from buying a box of the cigars is if you smoked one a week or one every two weeks because then it does pose the issue of "do I like this enough to be my one cigar this week" but smoking 30+ a month, you're gonna need some goto's to rotate in and out. You won't be disappointed with the under crown CV as a change of pace stick even as you go through your palette changes.

I was in the exact same spot as you a couple of months ago. The #9 is what hooked me on this hobby. I've diversified a lot since then, mostly from hanging out here. I pulled the trigger on several boxes of ligas, because I just couldn't trust how things would shake out after the purchase by Swisher. Now I have plenty of stock of 9's and 52's in my tupperdor for future enjoyment with no regrets. If you chose to go that route as well, I too would encourage you to look into Cigar Auctioneer. It's run by Famous (site sponsor, yea!), and you can't beat the price. Toros of #9 have been going for $225-$230 (as low as $213), same with 52's (one went for $204!) and Undercrowns for under $100. Yes, I am an enabler. Either way, enjoy the journey.

That's kind of how I seen it. I'm always looking at my 5 packs like I need to save them, when I know I want to smoke them lol. Hence my box purchase questions.

If I see a box of UC's under 100, I will not even hesitate a second
