.40 Recommendations?

The Glock 23 and HK p30 are both excellent .40s. If you want the HK in your price range you need to look for a used one. Try and find a LEM trigger if you can.
If you want simplicity go for the glock. For accuracy, speed of manipulation, sex appeal and tacticool value the HK wins.
edit: I ran my P30 3000rds with no lube or cleaning before any failures (stovepipes). Never came close to that with my Glocks, and Glocks are VERY reliable in 9mm, .40 & 45.

I Have two recommendations for this caliber and I will be buying both shortly if that helps in my stance on these weapons. I have been a 1911 guy for quite some time and wanted to expand a little for many reasons that I won't get into here.
The first, is the H&K P30s. Shoot one, do your research and you will know why.
Second is Sig P229 Enhanced Elite, again...shoot one, and research.
The unique thing with the Sig is that you can buy a drop-in .357 barrel and have an instant conversion to the Sig .357 round. Mag, frame, slide, everything else stays the same. (Sig .357 top round, .40 S&W on bottom)

I'm bumping this thread 'cause a number of people said they were about to buy some new guns of the type that I am thinking of getting, and I wanted to see if anyone had any additional thoughts and comments.
Also, I hate to open the .40 v. .45 debate, but since I already have a 9mm, do most people here think I should skip the .40 and go to .45? TIA.

Do you reload? If so, that can play a role in what you choose.
I personally loathe .40 S&W, and would skip to .45 ACP. I can shoot faster splits with a .45 than .40, in my limited testing.
If you shoot factor ammo, .40 will most likely be cheaper... so that may be a reason to go with it.
