I've been reactive hypoglycemic since I was 15. I do mostly high protien low carb diet and no simple sugars. That controls mine pretty well. Since I overproduce insulin, Scotch seems to treat my insulin triggers better than beer. When I drink beer, stouts seem to be ok and not flip the insulin switch.
