Big shake up here at the Tripp house. And as a result, I do not have either of my offspring living at home any longer. they are aged 21 and 24. Please wish them a safe and happy journey into the real world.

My question is how old were you when you moved out?
I have been away from home since I was 18-19 years old. That might be too young and as such it was very rough in the begining. I do feel it has made me a more resourceful person and I appriciate things that I have obtained very much.

Moved out when I was 18. Moved back in for 4 months when I was 22 in order to complete my student teaching since the school I was placed at was only 10 miles from my parents.

From the time I was 17/18/19, I worked away from home in the summer, and moved back in for school, when I was done with HS at 19, I moved out and have been on my own since. Yes I was young also, but learned alot about life early and fast... I'm happy I did it that way, My to oldest kids have done the samething, and it has worked for them, sooooooo good luck to your two kids on there new life......

Moved out at 21. Moved back in once for a short time during a financially difficult time, before getting back on my own.

Out at 21 and back in for a year at 23 due to a dorm problem. Had some financial support at the time. The parents had a deal with me in regards to aid and college marks. I loved that arrangement as reading beats flipping burgers any day. :eyebrow:

left at 19 because I wanted more "freedom", had a few struggles in the begining, but I feel they helped me for my future.

Just to put it in perspective, it ain't the same world that you guys moved out in. Everything costs a lot more. I'm working on moving out, but it's just very difficult to actually make ends meet.

Out at 19, back at 20 for four months, and now I'm on my own again. Don't plan on moving back any time soon.

Man, I hung in there as long as I could to save dough to buy my first house!

22/23 for me. My wife and I bought a place a couple of years before we were married and staying home definitely helped.

Hah...This is my plan! I'm gonna milk it for all it's worth. I look at it as why put yourself in that much of a financial burden when you don't have to yet. But I'll be moving out in July to go off to finish my 4 year degree. But I'll still have financial help there too.

When I left for college at 18 I never went back except for the first Thangsgiving and Christmas holidays, I never spent another night under my parents roof after that.
